The property

Fox's Retreat is a lovely, two storey maisonette in Keswick, Cumbria, with a reverse-level layout.

This is a wonderful base for a couple or family of three to escape to nature, resting close to the town's superb amenities as well as the best attractions the Lake District National Park has to offer.

Enjoy a stress-free arrival with a private parking space for one car before entering your holiday home on the main street.

Climb the steps to a first-floor kitchen with soothing blue tones and an electric oven, gas stove, and fridge with ice box for preparing delectable meals. After a day of exploring the local area you can toss muddy walking gear into the washer/dryer and use the cafetiere to make a fresh cup of coffee!

Savour a full breakfast at the table for four in the maisonettes social area, a snug living/dining area, or curl up on the corner sofa by the warmth of the electric fire while catching up on your favourite TV series. Relax in one of two ground-floor bedrooms, which include a double for two people and a 4' double for one person, both with wall-mounted TV's with Freeview for lazy mornings under the covers.

Before lacing up your hiking boots and stepping into your magnificent surroundings, freshen up in the sleek, contemporary shower room.

Keswick is a popular location with a variety of attractions and services on offer; enjoy a game of golf with panoramic views, see the exhibitions at The Makers Mill, and catch a lakeside concert at the historic Theatre by the Lake.

Borrowdale, just south of town, is a haven for walkers, cyclists, and climbers alike, with plenty of crags scattered about, as well as strolls along Derwent Water Lake and the magnificent Lodore Falls.

Take a drive east to Ullswater, a beautiful lake with cruises to charming villages and charming tearooms, including Pooley Bridge, Glenridding, and Howtown.

The famed Aira Force Waterfall, as well as Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens and the historic Lowther Castle & Gardens, are also nearby attractions with nature trails and vistas extending across the landscape.

For historians and literary fans, Cockermouth is a must-see destination to learn about William Wordsworth's birthplace, tour Cockermouth History Wall, and be inspired by Castlegate House Gallery.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
