“Bandol was perfect for our 3-generation family holiday.”

A lovely location with wonderful views all around. Very well equipped and had everything we needed; beds and sofas extremely comfortable. We would all be very happy to make a return visit! The only difficulty we had was trying to get the television to work...we could never remember from one day to the next which buttons to press on the handset to get the normal channels! Step by step instructions would be helpful! Thank you for sharing your lovely holiday home.

“Bandol is the perfect place for a family holiday.”

With 2 Granddaughters aged 1 & 3, Bandol was ideal for them. Plenty of space, both inside and out, and very child friendly. The cottage was very well equipped, there was absolutely nothing that we needed. The location was great, with a 5 minute walk to the coffee shop, village shop, and pubs in Braithwaite and just a short drive into Keswick. The views surrounding the cottage were breathtaking, with rabbits, sheep, and even a pheasant coming to visit. Plenty of walks and places to visit. The wildlife park in Bassenthwaite is a definite “must” especially for little ones. I have been to the Lakes many times, but I think Bandol has really hit the spot and myself and the family can’t wait to return!

“It was a very comfortable property, spacious, very well equipped, good car parking space, marvellous views, fabulous bird feeders, great boot management area!”

The heating wasn't needed but we could control that and I'm sure it's very welcome at other times. The leaflets/ info might benefit from a sort out but that's very minor point, not a complaint.

“Bandol is a lovely bungalow, spacious with 2 large bathrooms with excellent showers and great facilities.”

The window overlooking Braithwaite and Skiddaw is wonderful. Sitting looking out in the morning was a joy . There was a wide variety of birds that came to the Bird feeders at the front and back of the bungalow, siskin, spotted woodpecker, chaffinch etc, and even a pheasant tried to join in! The view from the back windows overlooking the Coledale horseshoe was also fantastic. Our daughter has stayed here before and she recommended Bandol - so much she joined us on this trip!

“We have been coming to Bandol every year for the past six years, and this was yet another lovely stay.”

Great location - amazing views and wonderful walks straight from the door, pub a stone’s throw away plus village shop, cafe and other pub down the road. Bandol is always very clean and is a very spacious holiday home, with plenty of fridge and freezer space and utility/boot room. Would highly recommend.

“Bandol is a fabulous property.”

It was clean and really well appointed. All the bedrooms are a good size and storage plentiful. The views are incredible and wildlife all around. It was really quiet and peaceful yet only a short walk to the pub and shop in Braithwaite and 5 minute drive into Keswick. The owner and housekeeper were friendly and welcoming. “Fantastic views from all points of the house.”

Very large sitting room with panoramic view of the mountains. Very well equipped kitchen with attention to details such as hooks for hanging coats and towels in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Excellent for walking the mountains straight from the door. We enjoyed the most comfortable stay ever. Highly recommended. You won’t be disappointed at all.

It is very comfortable and is extremely well equipped. The accommodation is very spacious allowing 8 guests to have there own space. The owner has thought of every detail to ensure the holiday is a delight from bird feeders to blackout blinds and comfortable settes and chairs . Bandol is in a great location .The views towards Skiddaw are superb and it is in the ideal location for walking in a variety of directions from the door .

“We were very pleased with the accommodation and it was an excellent location with good facilities and beautiful views.”

The only negative comment we could make was that the master bedroom had not been hoovered as there was quite a lot of long loose hair on the carpet. Also, it would be a good idea to be supplied with two keys for large parties who may be splitting off and doing their own things for the day. Other than, we would certainly use the property again if possible for another large family stay.

Comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. View of Skiddaw across valley from living room is spectacular! Peaceful and relaxing spot. Excellent base for seeing this northern part of Lakes - lovely walks at Derwentwater, Buttermere and Rydal. Pencil Museum in Keswick is genuinely fascinating. Huge thanks to owner - our first trip since September was wonderful and we'll definitely be returning.

The property

We are sure that our guests will love Bandol - a detached and spacious single storey property which has been completely refurbished.

The property is situated on the edge of Braithwaite Village being just a short walk down the hill to the local shop and a couple of good pubs.

The setting is ideal with excellent views over the village towards Keswick, Skiddaw and surrounding fells.

Walks from the door take in some of the high tops including Grasmoor and Grisedale Pike whilst you can enjoy a more gentle ramble along nearby winding country lanes.

Cruises and 'lake hopping' boat services on Derwentwater make the most of the fantastic Keswick area. Accommodation: Entrance up several steps into porch/utility area with plenty of room for coats and boots.

A well equipped breakfast kitchen in a cream painted style with window looking out on to the back patio and fells beyond.

Spacious L shaped living/dining room (flat screen TV, DVD, Sonos, Wi-Fi and log burner) with large picture window with views towards Skiddaw and surrounding fells.

There are four bedrooms; 2 with king size beds, one of which has an en-suite with p-shaped bath with shower over, basin and wc and two twin rooms.

Separate shower room with large shower cubicle, basin and wc.

Additional separate wc. Comfortably furnished and decorated to a high standard, Bandol is a great house for a family holiday or a number of couples wanting to get together at any time of the year, with central heating and hot water on demand. Outside: Large gardens stretching all the way round the house and the field surrounding and belonging to the property can also be carefully utilised although usually grazed by sheep.

Secure storage for bikes etc in the garage.

Coledale Inn 2 mins walk, shop and further pubs in Braithwaite 10 mins walk.

Keswick 3 miles.

Between the magnificent northern lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, lies the village of Braithwaite. Still retaining much of its traditional appeal, the Coledale Beck runs through the village with whitewashed Lakeland cottages, two village shops and two real ale Inns each brimming with character! Between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw, there really is something for everyone. Visit Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the lake with an open-air theatre, or take a trip around the lake. Lake District Wildlife Park, Dodd Wood, Derwentwater, and Keswick with its wide range of attractions, are also within easy reach.
