In only 5 minutes' walk you find yourself in the centre of town where you are spoilt for choice with an array of boutique shops, bars and restaurants and 3 cinemas, though please be aware that there is a 300 metre hill on the driveway back up to the property from the village.
A fifteen minute walk will take you to Waterhead on Lake Windermere where you can hire a boat, enjoy a selection of lake cruises or just sit and admire the scenery with a picnic.
There are 2 hotels on the lake shore offering food and drinks.
Ambleside and Windermere have excellent local shopping, and public transport.The National Park Visitor Centre at Brockhole is just a short distance by road or by boat from Waterhead.
The grounds are open all year and there are footpaths down to the lake.
There is also a seasonal teashop and many interesting activities for visitors with a published programme of events and exhibitions.
There are several hotels close by where you can eat out in style without using the car.
Accommodation: Whilst Greenways is a bungalow there are a few steps down to the garden from the kitchen or walk around the side of the building on the flat.
A small patio area at the front of the property also welcomes you.
