Settled on the Duddon Estuary, between Kirkby-in-Furness and Barrow-in-Furness is the civil parish of Askam-in-Furness, also known as the gateway to the Western Lakes and the Coast. Comprising two villages, Askam and Ireleth, the settlement is known for being moments away from the Sandscale Haws National Nature Reserve, alongside the Lake District National Park, whilst also being near the South Lakes Safari Zoo and Dunnerholme Golf Club. The London House, a classic pub serving serving traditional ale ;and The Black Dog Inn which does the best burgers on a Friday night and is a must according to the locals are nearby and perfect for a nice refreshment.
