Several superb walks begin nearby, including the easy ascent of Orrest Head which promises a spectacular panorama from the top.
There are many National Trust and other historic properties and gardens near at hand including the 400 year old Townend Farmhouse, Holehird Gardens, Blackwell Arts and Crafts house and Allan Bank where the iconic red squirrels reliably put in an appearance!
