    While we initially chose this property for its prime location and promising description, our experience was profoundly disappointing and has left a lasting negative impression on our family.     While we initially chose this property for its prime location and promising description, our experience was profoundly disappointing and has left a lasting negative impression on our family. From the moment we arrived, we were faced with a series of unacceptable issues that severely impacted our stay: 1. **Unhygienic Conditions**: Upon entering the lounge, we were horrified to find what appeared to be an unused tampon left behind. This was an appalling first impression and set the tone for the rest of our stay. 2. **Dishwasher Negligence**: The dishwasher was filled with washed but unemptied utensils, which added to the sense of neglect within the property. 3. **Non-Functional Shower**: The water pressure in the shower was virtually non-existent, rendering it impossible for any of us to bathe for the entire duration of our stay—a truly unacceptable situation. 4. **Visible Dust and Cobwebs**: The property was clearly not cleaned to an adequate standard. Dust and cobwebs were visibly present on the ceilings and walls, detracting from the comfort and hygiene of the space. 5. **Broken Blind in the Second Bedroom**: The broken skylight blind in the second bedroom meant that our children were unable to sleep properly due to the overwhelming brightness at sunrise and sunset. This was entirely out of our control and a direct result of poor property maintenance. Beyond the physical issues, the lack of communication and support compounded our frustrations. Attempts to contact the property owner went unanswered, and we were unable to reach anyone at Sykes Holiday Cottages for assistance. This left us feeling helpless and abandoned during our stay. The mental strain and disappointment this experience caused my family are difficult to put into words. What was supposed to be a relaxing getaway turned into a stressful ordeal. Despite the location being ideal, the numerous shortcomings and lack of accountability have left us with a bitter aftertaste. Given the severity of these issues, I am formally requesting appropriate compensation to address the impact this stay has had on us. I trust that you will take this matter seriously and respond promptly with a resolution. Should I not hear back within a reasonable timeframe, I will not hesitate to escalate my concerns further, including sharing my detailed experience on platforms such as Trustpilot. Adjacent, you will find an inviting sitting room that encourages you to put your feet up after a day of exploring and unwind in front of the TV.

When sleep starts to call, guests can find two well-presented bedrooms, a double and a twin, both offering a serene space to rest after a day of exploring the local area.

The bathroom is fitted with a bath and an overhead shower, providing a choice of what to freshen up with before starting your day.

Just a stone's throw away you'll find plenty of activities to fill your days in Bowness-On-Windermere.

Discover the National Trust Wray Castle, a great family day out with extensive grounds to roam and play in.

Visit Brockhole on Windermere, the Lake District Visitor Centre, where you can explore the gardens, hire bikes, or even try your hand at some adventurous watersports.

Head a little further to Near Sawrey, where you’ll find Hill Top, a 17th-century house and the home of Beatrix Potter, filled with her beloved things and left just as she wanted it to be admired; paying homage to the famous author and the enchanting world she created, and stroll through Holehird Gardens, lovingly cared for by dedicated volunteers and home to an array of remarkable and rare plants.

One must-visit location is Orrest Head Viewpoint, a short climb that rewards you with spectacular panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

For adrenaline seekers, Zip World Windermere offers an exhilarating treetop adventure.There are also a host of local pubs and restaurants in the town that are well worth a visit on the days you prefer to stay local.

Windermere Train Station 1.5 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, cinema, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre are 1.5 miles away.
