“We had a lovely holiday at Rustic cottage ,short walk into town though very peaceful and quiet at the cottage which was extremely well equipped,in fact one of the best of the many cottages we have stayed in.”

The beds were excellent, so comfortable. The owner kindly kept a parking space for us ,use of permit available but we didn't use the car all week using an excellent bus service instead.

We really appreciate your kind comments. It was lovely to have you both as guests and look forward to seeing you again soon. The location of our cottage being central but quietly tucked away in Bowness makes it an ideal base to explore the area. Our aim is to try and offer clean and comfortable accommodation for our guests. Property Owner

The property

This delightful character cottage nestles in a quiet location close to the heart of Bowness village.

One of four whitewashed former workers' cottages, Rustic Cottage is steeped in traditional features such as original beams, wooden floors and exposed stone walling.

This cottage is perfect for a couple or couple with a child and will charm in any season, with its cosy wood burning stove for the winter months and sunny patio to enjoy during the summer. Arriving at the property, the traditional wooden latch door brings you into the open-plan kitchen and dining area, home to all the appliances you need to whip up tasty meals for the group, as well as a handy dishwasher to help with your clean up.

Gather to enjoy your meals at the dining table and plan the next day of adventures before making your way into the characterful sitting room.

Boasting a flat screen TV with a DVD player and Freeview, along with original wood beams and charming woodburning stove, you can look forward to snuggling up with your loved in this space after a long day of discovering the local area.

A patio door from the lounge leads out onto the large patio with views out over the village.

As the evening draws to a close, head upstairs where you will find a good size double room and a smaller single room with 4 foot double bed and pleasant views onto Claife Heights; here, you can look forward to resting your head before another action-packed day out.

Completing the interior of the cottage is a fully tiled family bathroom, where you can soak your muscles in a bubble bath after a tiresome day of exploring, as well as being home to a shower over, basin and WC so the group can freshen up and prepare for the day ahead.

Back on the ground floor, patio doors from the sitting room lead you outside to the large enclosed south facing patio; home to pretty patio furniture, the space is ideal for a morning cup of coffee or a glass of wine and barbecue in the last of the summer sun.

Spend your days wandering this glorious area of the country; Lake Windermere is only a short stroll away where many water-based activities can be enjoyed, such as cruises, boat hire and kayaking, or you can take the car ferry across the lake to Hawkshead and Beatrix Potter country.

If you are travelling with a book worm, why not spend the day at The World of Beatrix Potter, discovering the rich past of Peter Rabbit and friends.

Venture out to the lovely town of Ambleside one day and explore glorious Wray Castle and grounds, making for a peaceful day out for all ages and abilities.

The many amenities of the village of Bowness are on your doorstep, as well as excellent opportunities for walking and taking in the beautiful nearby viewpoints of Post Knott and Brantfell from where views up and down the lake and even over to the coast are possible on a clear day.

If you don't fancy cooking one evening, venture out to one of the local eateries such as Urban Food House, offering a contemporary menu, or for a traditional pub grub menu, The Flying Pig Pub.

There is also plenty of evening entertainment in the nearby pubs; Baha offers live music, cocktails and a stylish setting, perfect if evenings out are more your style.

For a relaxing break in the stunning Lake District, choose Rustic Cottage.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
