    “We had a lovely stay!”

The cottage was exactly as described and in the perfect location for exploring Ambleside and the surrounding areas. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others looking to visit The Lakes.

The property

Old Ambleside House is a very special luxurious 5 star Gold Award property.

Its origins lie in the late 16th-18th centuries and is situated less than 150 yards from the centre of town.

With parking for 2 cars it could not be better placed.

Presented as an upside down house, three of the fabulous bedrooms are on the ground floor each with en-suite facilities, the fourth bedroom is off the lounge on the first floor, also with an en-suite.

The first floor opens up to create an amazingly bright and spacious open plan living area with dining area and kitchen and offers an excellent social space to get the most out of your stay. Old Ambleside House is one of three exceptional properties owned and managed by one family.

These three properties; The Old Village Shop, Old Ambleside House, and Rossett Holme - are all located very close to the centre of Ambleside and all are Visit England 4 or 5 star Gold Awarded and offer very high quality accommodation.

All are available for full weeks or short breaks at any time of year except New Year. == Accommodation in detail The front door leads onto a substantial hallway that runs through the house linking the three bedrooms and stairs lead up to the living accommodation and 4th bedroom.

The hallway incorporates substantial outdoor-wear hanging space and boot/shoe changing and storage facilities. As you climb the stairs you walk into the open plan lounge, along with kitchen/diner.

The first thing that strikes you is a feeling of space and light flooding through the large windows.

The whole place feels luxurious and contemporary. The main living area is made up of comfortable sofas and arm chairs arranged around the coffee table and flame effect electric log burning stove.

A large screen smart TV offering Sky and Sky Sports makes the lounge a lovely relaxing social space.

A second seating area is carefully arranged to offer views above the roof tops to the fells beyond and is a delightful spot to curl up with a good book or just relax after a day exploring The Lakes. The large kitchen dining area is fitted and furnished to the very highest standard.

The Smeg range cooker is ideal for preparing everything from a quick breakfast to a celebration dinner.

The top quality kitchen is complete with quality appliances including a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, wine chiller, microwave and washer/drier.

The large family dining table is the ideal place to relax with friends and family - whether to enjoy a hearty Cumbrian breakfast or to chill over drinks and an evening meal.

The best butchers in town is just 20 yards from the front door! Returning to the ground floor there is a choice of three beautifully furnished and luxurious bedrooms.

Choose from either of two stunning king size or super twin bedded room.

Each bedroom has its own smart TV along with quality linens and a choice of goose down or non-allergenic duvets (please specify when booking) and each has its own luxury en-suite shower room or full bathroom.

Each bedroom, along with the living areas, has a Sonos Music system and charging points for those all important mobiles and i pads. Location Old Ambleside House is located very close to the centre of Ambleside, at the northern tip of Lake Windermere.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
