The property

Gosling Cottage is a lovely little stone terraced cottage that sits near an attractive green next to the River Kent where kingfishers, otters and leaping salmon can be found in the pretty market town of Kendal.

The town centre is just a short five minutes walk over an historic bridge making this an ideal location.

Kendal is not called the "gateway to the Lakes" for no reason as it sits right on the border of the Lake District National Park.

Sleeping two guests, this property is an ideal choice for couples who are yearning for a countryside escape.

Make your way to your new holiday home through the pretty front garden and be greeted by the comforting sitting room upon entering and relax in front of the fresh fire of the woodburning stove while you keep up to date with all your favourite shows on the Smart TV.

Moving through the property you will find the kitchen and dining room with space for the pair of you to sit down and have your lovely meals together after cooking up a romantic feast.

After your meal, why not take a load off and indulge in a hot, steamy soak in the exquisite roll-top bath before getting under the fresh linen of the super-king-size bed for your night’s rest?

With Kendal being right on your doorstep, there is a whole host of things to do and sights to see.

For when you're feeling sporty why not pay a visit to Lakeland Climbing Centres or Carus Green Golf Course & Driving Range with both promising to keep you busy, along with the range of hiking trails dotted throughout the national park, including Scafell Pike and Helvellyn.

When you've got a more scenic day planned head over to Kendal Castle for rich displays of history and countryside views.

A short drive away you have Windermere Lake where you can enjoy the fun-filled waters with an array of watersports, as well as visiting Claife Viewing Station and Windermere West Shore for your afternoon packed lunch.

Should you get peckish on your travels, you can satisfy your rumbling bellies at The Magic Roundabout or Picnic Cabin for a more casual bite.

Be sure to visit the many lakes of the Lake District National Park, such as Buttermere, Ullswater, Coniston and more, with varying levels of serenity, depending on the mood you’re in.

If you're planning a day out further afield, Lancaster is within easy reach, with Lancaster Cathedral and opportunities for shopping and dining in abundance.

Kendal Castle and the River Kent are just a few minutes walk from the property.

Kendal Train Station is a 5 Minute Walk and the main Bus Station is an 8 Minute walk.

All of this and much more await you at Gosling Cottage.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

KENDAL

Windermere 8 miles.

A historic market town with a fine reputation for shopping, Kendal nestles on the banks of the River Kent and is known as the Southern Gateway to the Lakes. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Visit The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, its regular collection holding portraits by Kendal born George Romney and works by Turner and Ruskin, with other exhibitions through its links with the Tate. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its superb Topiary Garden are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay. Kendal itself is ideally placed for exploring South Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and beyond. With other attractions such as Kendal Museum and the Museum of Lakeland Life, the fascinating Quaker Tapestry, Lake Windermere and the wider National Park within easy reach, Kendal provides a superb base for a relaxing break.
