Resting in the small village of Catterlen, a few miles from the bustling market town of Penrith, is this charming cottage.

The Old Cook House is an idyllic base for a small family seeking to explore all of the delights of this town.

Enter the front door into the open-plan kitchen/diner, hosting a range of contemporary appliances for cooking up some delicious meals, whilst the dining table provides all the space you could need for a family gathering.

Follow through into the sitting room, where you will find a wonderful blend of contemporary design with antique furnishings to ensure a charming base to return to each evening.

Cosy up in front of the TV and catch up on your favourite shows, or the events of the previous day.

Walk through to Once the evening draws to a close, retire to either the ground-floor king-size bedroom or the first-floor twin bedroom, each with a selection of modern furniture for storage purposes.

Delight in the family shower room or en-suite bathroom for getting ready in the morning.

Outside there is a gravelled garden where you can sit with a refreshing drink, whilst the surrounding countryside is superb for those who enjoy walking and exploring the outdoors.

While you're in the area, make sure you travel towards the bustling market town of Penrith for some traditional pubs and restaurants and sample some delectable foods, or pick up some last-minute ingredients from their supermarkets for an evening meal.

Golf lovers will delight in spending an afternoon at the Penrith Golf Club, which hosts an 18-hole course for those of all ages and skill levels.

Discover the 14th century Penrith Castle which was once the home of Richard III and Richard, Duke of Gloucester.

Another popular historic attraction includes the 13th century Brougham Castle with stunning views across the Eden Valley.

Whinfell Forest is also nearby for long walks and cycling opportunities, with King Arthur's Round Table, or enjoy the delights of Ullswater, just a short scenic car journey away, here you can find ample walking routes placed around the beauty of the lake, with picturesque Pooley Bridge sitting at the northeast end holding history and wonder.

Further afield is the beautiful Lake District National Park with a whole host of popular tourist attractions and bustling market towns to explore.

The bustling market town of Penrith, once the capital of Cumbria, enjoys a central position between the Lake District, the Westmoorland Dales and North Pennines and is ideally placed for taking in all that the region has to offer.
