“The property was beautiful, well thought out, very well equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed staying there.”

The location was perfect and the secure garden for our dog was a real gem and one of the main draws to staying here. Unfortunately the bath was unusable our entire stay and although a lady who had been cleaning the cottage was there after 4pm when we arrived who told us she'd reported it to Lake Lovers who said they should be out the next day no one arrived. The same can be said for the main double bed which a leg had broken off and wasn't fixed whilst we were staying there. Fortunately ...

Fortunately there was a second double bed in the upper level which we were able to access but should other guests have perhaps had mobility issues etc navigating the spiral stairs may not have been so easy. All of that being said it's just bad luck when things break or go wrong and it wasn't the be all and end all of our stay and it wouldn't deter us from staying at this property again!

Poppy Cottage, an enchanting, 200-year-old cottage, is set on the lower slopes of a mountain above the ever-popular village of Coniston.

A stay at Poppy Cottage will give you the opportunity to experience the very best of both worlds – situated just a short walk away from the bustling Coniston village centre and the shores of Coniston Water.

However, with this dreamy cottage, set in it’s own garden, you also get total tranquillity, peace and quiet.

A narrow lane takes you to three terraced cottages, bright white against the backdrop of the fells.

Inside Poppy Cottage you will find contemporary luxury with snug styling.

The living room is open plan, with wooden beams and glossy oak floorboards.

Rich brown leather mixes with cream canvas chairs.

At the centre is a wooden spiral staircase that leads to one of the bedrooms and through a door in the lounge will lead you via a few steps to the other two bedrooms.

Poppy Cottage has plush bedrooms with wonderful sleigh bed frames and magnificent views, one bedroom has a tiny stable door leading to the garden.

The second bedroom features a fabulous freestanding rolltop bath.

The property feels generous throughout, including the Shaker-style kitchen, which is lavishly equipped.

When the weather is warm, there is a large garden complete with furniture, perfect for watching the sunset after a magical day.

The garden itself offers stunning views of the dramatic surrounding landscape, including breathtaking vistas of Old Man Mountain and the old copper mines.

Additionally, there are waterfalls and lush bluebell woods right on your doorstep.

Poppy Cottage serves as a fantastic base from which to explore this vibrant village, the majesty of Coniston Water, and the wider Lake District National Park.
