“What a gem of a find thank you.”

It is well situated to access the lakes. The cottage was so lovely. The welcome package was so appreciated. It’s the little things that make the holiday special. The rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Love the little lights in the bathroom. The beds were really comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped although the bottom oven didn’t work. The hot tub was great and very private. We will definitely use Sykes cottages again.

About the location

ALDINGHAM

Ulverston 5 miles.

On the coast looking across to Morecambe Bay is the small village of Aldingham, said to have once been a mile long but, as legend says, many of the early cottages were washed away by storms and tidal waves. Aldingham had the reputation of being a smugglers’ village, with brandy from France and tobacco from America supposedly hidden in the church crypt. The village is close to the spectacular Furness Abbey, and the ancient market town of Ulverston is just 5 miles away, and still has an authentic feel and community spirit. The town boasts a street market every Thursday and Saturday and many festivals throughout the year, including an amazing lantern procession in September and a superb Dickensian weekend on the last weekend of November. It is also the birthplace of Stan Laurel and home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! With all the attractions of the Lake District National Park and the sandy beaches and good birdwatching of the Furness coast close by, this quiet and peaceful area has plenty to offer!
