“Eden House is a beautiful house set in beautiful ground.”

We are a multi generation party staying and everyone enjoyed themselves. The beds are very comfortable and with the snooker room, library and large garden, it kept everyone entertained. Eden House is ideally located for trip to the lakes and is 30 minutes from Scotland for a quick trip over the boarder.

The property

A magnificent, Grade II listed, detached house in the centre of Edenhall village.

Furnished and decorated to a good standard, Eden House oozes charm and character, with high ceilings, creating a feeling of space and grandeur.

Very much a home-from-home, this delightful property offers open fires, original tiled floors, canted bay windows, shutters, beams and gorgeous fire surrounds, all retaining the provenance of this 18th century house.

The main sitting rooms overlook the beautiful, walled garden and the comfy sofas entice the whole family to curl up and relax after a day exploring the surrounding countryside.

The kitchen is sleek and spacious and ideally located next to the dining room, perfect for the allocated chef to serve up a delight for that long-awaited get together with family and friends.

On the first floor there are three double bedrooms, one with an en-suite and a single bedroom and a pull-out stacker bed, along with a bathroom, whilst the second floor has two twins, one with an extra single bed, a library with a sofa bed and a bathroom.

In the west wing there is a large pantry with slate shelving, perfect for cooling drinks and snacks, and a large games room with darts and a full-size snooker table.

There is also a useful utility and boot room.

Eden House is set in 1.5 acres of tended garden, to the rear there is a large patio with steps leading up to a lawned area with mature hedges and trees, plenty of room for the children to let off steam, and to the front of the house there is a semi-circular sweeping carriage drive.

The surrounding countryside provides plenty to see and do with cycle routes and walks galore.

Nearby Penrith has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, a cinema and a swimming pool.

There are many lovely drives available, including ones which will take you to Alston, the highest market town in England, Appleby, Keswick and Langwathby, which has been voted amongst the top ten scenic driving roads in the world.

You can take a day trip to visit the Lake District National Park and go for walks around the magnificent lakes of Ullswater and Haweswater, or head in the opposite direction to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

About the location

EDENHALL

Penrith 4 miles; Ullswater 12 miles.

The enchanting, unspoilt rural village of Edenhall is situated in the Eden Valley and is ideally placed for exploring the Lake District and the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Edenhall with its sandstone cottages and attractive scenery should be at the top of your holiday hit list if you're looking for a quaint and rural destination in Cumbria. The River Eden runs nearby and the area is renowned for its excellent trout and salmon fishing, along with walking, cycling, canoeing and climbing. Just four miles from Penrith, yet deep in the peaceful Eden countryside, Edenhall is a big hit for those in search of seclusion. Think single lane country roads flanked by time forgotten drystone, along with lofty sandstone houses beside stone-built terraces, the perfect place to relax and unwind amid the charming countryside. Down the road from Edenhall is Langwathby, another attractive Cumbrian village with a handful of country pubs serving fine fare and quality cask ales. The road to Langwathby is thought to be one of the prettiest in Cumbria and is regularly voted among the top ten scenic driving roads in the world. The Eden Gorge, between Lazonby and Armathwaite, is one of Cumbria's best-kept secrets, and is well worth exploring, plus the local railway station is a stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain. Within easy reach is Rheged, which provides an innovative visitor centre with shops, restaurants, exhibitions and a giant cinema, whilst Brougham Castle, Long Meg and her daughters (the 3rd largest stone circle in England), Hadrian's Wall and the historic city of Carlisle are all a short drive away. Visit Alston, the highest market town in England, or take a day trip to discover the stunning scenery of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks.
