    “Property in general was excellent.”

Spacious for 4, could comfortably accommodate 6. Secure outside space for doggie was ideal. Beds huge and comfy, bedding and towels good. Couple of minor grumbles, note was left that dishwasher in kitchen was not working which meant a track up steps into the boot/utility room to use that one. Inconvenient and potentially dangerous, Was frustrating as was same make and model as the broken kitchen one so possibly an easy swap for guest convenience. No starter pack for wood burner, brought logs with us but meant needed to go buy kindling and firefighters (left there for next guests) Despite a lot of info in pack against dog spoilage indoors and penalties, some evidence of staining in top bedroom. As always, we tidied behind us and hoovered etc, but hoover needed some maintenance and was a bit whiffy. However, back to positives, and there were many! Showers all great with good power and top notch heating etc on demand Kitchen was really well equipped and had all crockery, utensils etc that you could hope for, off road parking for two cars was perfect. The house was situated perfectly away from the main road but still only a stones throw from the shops bars and restaurants. Would defo look to book again, please don’t be put off from any comments above, they are simply feedback on things that could be even better. On the whole a great place to stay, thank you

The property

Ellerthwaite House is a beautiful Victorian semi-detached property in a perfect location just a short stroll of under 5 minutes from Windermere village where you will find a great mixture of bars, restaurants and cafes, along with a variety of unique little shops, galleries and boutiques.

Perfect for family gatherings or friends to enjoy, and only five minutes' drive from Bowness and the shores of Lake Windermere itself. This beautifully renovated house has been finished to a very high standard and offers a choice of 3 bedrooms, two with superb ensuite shower rooms and one with an ensuite bathroom.

The spacious lounge has high ceilings with original cornicing and a log burning stove.

A bay window gives the room a light and airy feel with the newly designed decor providing a stylish luxurious finish. A snug/TV/games room has been fully equipped for any of your gaming or home cinema needs with comfortable seating to sit back with family or friends and make full use of the facilities, including a DAB/Bluetooth/CD stereo system. The dining room is open plan to the kitchen and has a large table which comfortably seats six and can be extended to provide even more space.

This area has been designed as a social space with a sofa, DAB/Bluetooth/CD stereo system and French doors which open out into the beautiful courtyard garden. The open plan kitchen is very well equipped and includes an American fridge freezer, range cooker and even two dish washers for your maximum convenience. The house has been tastefully finished by the owners to a very high standard and has been well thought out with little touches here and there to make your stay even more special.

The fresh, clean style of the property will appeal to many, whilst the renovations have been undertaken sympathetically to ensure none of the historic charm of Ellerthwaite House has been lost.

The aim of the owners is to make your stay in the lakes as relaxing as possible with all modern conveniences. Built of Lakeland stone in the late-1880s and sympathetically extended more recently, Ellerthwaite House is situated on a quiet street only a few minutes' walk from the friendly and bustling village of Windermere, with a vibrant mix of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and the popular resort of Bowness on the shores of Lake Windermere, just a mile away. Accommodation in Detail Walking through the front door into the porch, where you can kick off your walking boots, the hall leads you to the bay windowed lounge with large leather comfy sofas and a log burner for those cosy cold nights in.

A smart TV finishes the room off wonderfully and when you want to retreat with a book or to watch your favourite TV programme there is a welcoming snug with a large smart TV and games console.

From here step down into the family dining room with French doors opening onto a private courtyard garden with table and chairs.

The dining room is open plan to the kitchen, which is extremely well equipped with a range cooker and American style fridge freeze, dishwasher and built in microwave along with a central island unit and quality small appliances.

A butler's kitchen is equipped with a wine cooler and second dishwasher and is also home to the washer/dryer and provides plenty of space for boots and coats. The bedroom suites are arranged over two floors.

On the first floor you can choose from two rooms, both with ensuite shower rooms.

To the front of the property there is a bright king size room, finished in a New England style and to the rear, a welcoming bedroom that can be made up either as a super king size or as a twin room (please specify your choice when booking).

This room has been designed with a premium hotel bedroom "look and feel" in mind.

Care should be taken on the narrow stairs, which some guests may find a little steep, that lead to the largest of the bedrooms located on the top floor which is presented as a junior suite.

This well-appointed super king size room, complete with chaise longue, offers beautiful views over the rooftops of the village to the fells beyond and it is complemented by an ensuite bathroom with three quarter bath with shower, basin and WC. A walled courtyard garden with table and chairs gives the opportunity to enjoy al fresco dining and that chilled glass of something at the end of the day is an added bonus to the rear of the property.

On those warmer days, the garden is something of a sun trap and a perfect place to relax with friends or family during those special and quiet, relaxing moments on your holiday. To the side of the house there is private driveway parking for two cars, with further free on street parking available on the road outside the property.

Mountain bikes can be stored securely in the locked out house. The impressive proportions of Ellerthwaite House make it the perfect social getaway destination where you can enjoy quality time with family and friends.

Yet with its abundance of space and amenities, the house provides the option of privacy and quiet time, thanks to its multiple reception rooms and spacious bedroom suites. Location This superb Windermere holiday home is located just out of the heart of Windermere and is under a 5 minute walk from the village centre with its local shops, cafes, restaurants and bars and is also within easy reach of Bowness-on-Windermere the popular Lake District holiday location, nestling on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere and alive with all the boating activities of Bowness Bay.
