“A great scenic place to stay.”

Garden is a lovely outside safe place for dogs and to enjoy the sunshine and breathtaking views of the sheep and lambs. Large comfy bed and modern bedroom space. Downstairs well equipped compact kitchen. Front room a great size but sofa wasn't that comfy and with annoying cushions and could do with net curtains for privacy and not having to keep the curtains closed making the room dark and gloomy. Overall building could do with replacing windows and a freshen up with decorating, as showing its age. Bathroom needing TLC with leaking shower doors and shower head needing a good clean. Kitchen door lock was a problem and wouldn't open from inside with the supplied key, luckily the double doors in front room was the same lock and could escape. Hot tub is a great little accent but needed a good clean as slime found under the corner of the seats and far too expensive for purchasing logs which was not explained beforehand. Contractors working on building right next to us, owner did call to inform us a few days before, initially offered us alternative accommodations, however as this was booked up too this was not an option. Perhaps a welcome pack, free logs for the hot tub or reduction in cost as a consolation for having a building site next to us would have been prudent. Could be a belter of a luxury holiday let for a quirky garage convert, It's an overall great little stay and bolt hole with great views.

We are glad the you had a great stay. Just to explain further, you were contacted with regards the building work next door well in advance of your stay. You were offered a full refund or to rearrange but you wanted to still keep your booking. So this is slightly an unfair comment as it was all explained with an apology and several options. The Hottub is very new and cleaned To a high standard after every visit. What you describe is the natural oils from the cedar wood. The sofa is a designer John Sankey sofa which is a luxurious and comfortable item to have in a holiday let. This sofa is very comfortable. We are not sure why cushions are annoying, but apologies if they were. The purchase of logs is and should be explained in the pre arrival information from Sykes and at £10 per large bag is a standard cost for getting the wood and delivery. There has been no issues with the door lock before we are unsure why you could not unlock it on one occasion,. The curtains are high quality and there to give a luxurious , cosy feel. Net curtains are something that would not go with the style of the cottage. We are glad that you had a great stay and enjoyed the accommodation and views off hills lambs and sheep. Property Owner

The property

What a find!

This chic and unique couples' hideaway takes the form of a converted Lakeland barn, next to the owners property, nestled in rural bliss and overlooking the lush Lyth Valley.

Found down a leafy lane, backing onto 'bluebell carpeted' woodland, Dove Tail Barn has been lovingly designed with comfort and relaxation in mind.

Sumptuous furnishings, warm rugs on elegant slate floors, Villeroy & Bosch wet room and a superbly romantic sky-lit bedroom.

The wood burning stove will keep you cosy on evenings in, but you'll probably be tempted out to one of your enviable locals - The Black Labrador at Crosthwaite and the Masons Arms at Strawberry Bank are two of the Lake District's finest.

You'll enjoy leisurely strolls down country lanes, spectacular hikes from your doorstep and still only a 20 minute drive to Bowness and the shores of Lake Windermere. == Accommodation in detail A long driveway leads to the barn, with parking by the log store.

Enter via the stylish kitchen, with slate floor, matching slate worktops and everything you'll need for dining in.

The lounge / dining room incorporates the barn door, with deep-cushioned furnishings, rug and wood burning stove.

The Villeroy & Bosch luxury wet room is on this floor.

Upstairs to the romantic double bedroom, with a magnificent Scandinavian king sized bed, sky lights and mood lighting. Natural Cedar Hot Tub for 2 people.

Bathe in a solid cedar tub and enjoy the calming experience whilst taking in stunning views towards Gummers How.

The natural aroma of cedar in this tranquil setting is a treat for all nature lovers.

The cedar tub is wood fired and takes up to 2 hours to reach bathing temperature.

Bags of Kiln dried logs are stored next to the tub at the cost of £10.00 per bag.

Location For a truly romantic holiday in the Lake District, this self-catering property in the Lyth Valley is something really special.

Away from the busier areas, but still only 20 minutes from Bowness, you'll find complete tranquility and relaxation in this beautiful rural area. The Lyth Valley is located to the east of Lake Windermere, overlooked by the famous Lake District walks on Scout Scar and Whitbarrow Scar.

The sheltered valley is famous for its damson orchards, which give rise to gorgeous white blossom in spring.

The landscapes are scattered with country homes and rural Lake District cottages, as well as a choice of several acclaimed Lake District country pubs, such as The Punch Bowl at Crosthwaite and the Mason's Arms at Strawberry Bank.

A romantic walk nearby is the ascent of Gummers How, which offers simply wonderful views of Lake Windermere from the top.

The Cartmel Fell tarns walk is also a lovely afternoon's worth, starting at Bowland Bridge's historic church.

Please note: We are happy to accept well behaved pets, however if any damage is caused there may be additional cleaning charges which will be taken from the good housekeeping bond

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

UNDERBARROW

Kendal 5 miles; Windermere 7.5 miles.

Underbarrow is a quiet, pretty Lakeland village close to the historic market town of Kendal and within reach of the wonderful Lake Windermere. The village has a pub and is ideally placed for exploring southern Lakeland and the Lake District National Park. Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, both with fine gardens, are nearby, and Kendal has much to offer in terms of shopping and is quite lively culturally, thanks to the Brewery Arts Centre and the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and Museum, which is widely recognised as one of the best in the region. Also worth a visit is the ruin of Kendal Castle, which was formerly the home of Katherine Parr, and there’s plenty to see and do with Grange-over-Sands, Cartmel, Ulverton, Bowness, Ambleside and even the Yorkshire Dales National Park within driving distance. Underbarrow is a lovely base for exploring the area.
