“Boathouse was in amazing location right on the lake, fitted out to very high standard.”

Loved the open plan space, hot tub an added bonus however wouldn’t stay again. The mattress was ‘rock’ hard but the show stopper are the stairs. There is small spiral staircase which is very narrow & difficult to navigate so couldn’t take much upstairs unless it was in smaller bags. Also, tried to limit going up & downstairs as much as possible & kept light on downstairs all through night to navigate the stairs at night to use the toilet !!! Such a shame as it’s lovely boathouse in ...

Such a shame as it’s lovely boathouse in fantastic location but the stairs really are an issue especially if you have mobility, dexterity or sight issues.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear you found the boathouse to be lovely and in an amazing location. We do our utmost to provide the best stay possible so thank you for bringing the mattress to our attention. We have replaced the mattress with a Simba Pro so that should provide a better night sleep. The staircase is a unique feature of the boathouse and there is a note on the web page which states it is not suitable for people with limited mobility. Our other boathouse, Boathouse on the Lake, next door, has a more standard staircase. Due to the boathouse being on Lake Windermere we have to adhere to strict guidelines around lighting and limiting light at night. Therefore, we provide a detachable night light, which can be used as a torch, found near the top of the stairs. This also doubles up as a motion sensor light when in its cradle and will turn on when the sensor picks up your movement to guide you in the night. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and we do hope you visit again, if not at Boathouse at Louper Weir then one of our other properties on the development. The Louper Weir Family Property Owner
