    “Really liked the cottage.”

Location is excellent. Parking was accurate. We did get out car down the drive. We have a Seat Leon (so mid/small car) so with a bit of patience and pulling the mirrors in it was no problems. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking implements which was great as we mainly ate in. It does have a big dishwasher that feels unnecessary. (Think it would be better swapped out for a washing machine). Beds are really comfy, nice bathroom and cottage is very clean. But there are a few things could be ...

But there are a few things could be fixed and improved. To be fixed - radiator in the big bedroom needs bleeding. Only partially heats keeping the room cold while the rest of the cottage is warm. The handle/head of the shower leaks so there is barely any pressure. I couldn't wash my hair for a week as a result. The roses bush by the front door needs to be tied back as it falls across the gate. Improvements - decent amount of toilet paper. Currently two rolls of very cheap and minimal toilet paper. Disappears in two days (we're only two people). We had to buy more and 2 further rolls (of different brand) of lasted another 4. Maybe at least leave 3 rolls if you are going to use cheap. -washing up liquid is ridiculously watered down. I get leaving the small bottle but to be so watered down is a bit of poor form. - a spare rubbish bag would've been helpful - surface spray. 2 bottles in cupboard but nothing in them - maybe a page of basic instructions would be good too. Took us a little while to find heating and work it out.

About the location

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
