“This is a beautiful, historic property in the middle of Grasmere village.”
It has been lovingly updated to be a comfortable, homely place. There are stunning views from the windows (even the skylights!) of the fells and a view of Grasmere church.
Despite not being set back from the road and being above a shop, the property is very quiet (especially at night, when Grasmere village itself is usually quiet too!).

Grasmere is our favourite place to stay. There are a few pubs and restaurants - Tweedies, The Inn, The Swan, The Traveller’s Rest, and (further down towards Ambleside) The Badger Bar are all nice pubs with traditional bars and fires on. There are so many stunning walks directly from Shepherd’s Crook - the Coffin Route, Grasmere and Rydal Water, Nab Scar, Heron Pike, Great Rigg, Stone Arthur, Alcock Tarn, Silver Howe, Easedale Tarn, the list goes on. You could easily spend a week or more here without ever getting in your car. There are attractions on the doorstep too, like the Wordsworths’ Dove Cottage and Allan Bank. The Heaton Cooper Art Studio has a cafe with brilliant views and good breakfast. Faeryland offers lakeside views for tea and cake, plus rowing boat hire. And don’t forget Sam Read booksellers! It really is a magical village to spend time in.
We will definitely be back to this beautiful property in this beautiful place sooner rather than later.
Thank you so much for such a lovely review. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay and couldn't agree more with what you wrote; it's our favourite place in the world and a truly magical place. Jamie & Cheryl
