  • Paul

“A fabulous cottage, warm and comfortable.”

Very clean with excellent facilities. A wonderful welcome hamper greeted us on arrival. Loads of extras in the kitchen which was the heart of the property. The large kitchen table was ideal for family board games. Although we didn't use the garden because it was winter, it looked beautiful and well established. We would definitely recommend this gorgeous cottage.

No need to go searching for a public charge point to fill up before you arrive, or at any time during your stay – simply park up on the drive and plug-in to this cottage’s OHME 7.5KW fast charger and fully charge your vehicle – totally included in your rental price.

Having parked up feel the welcome of the lofty kitchen/diner; a true country kitchen scene with a traditional stable door, oak farmhouse table and chapel chairs.

Admire the quaint mugs hanging from the shelf amidst a scattering of antique pieces of classic décor whilst you sit on the comfy sofa.

The calming colour palette makes this a fabulous space to relax in with your loved ones, make cooking dinner a social occasion and relax in the spacious open plan dining area, where you will find an impressive Rayburn range cooker, with a sofa in here to retire to at your leisure.

When weather is nice, why not fire up the barbecue on the terrace above the garage and dine alfresco at the large granite table on the second terrace in the garden?

Head up to the sitting room where a comfortable sofa sits neatly in the corner in front of the log burner.

Settle down with the latest, fully integrated SKY GLASS 42-inch TV-system with SKY packages already installed, and soak up a film or two, or maybe the latest sports programme, as the woodburning stove crackles nearby, sure to be your four-legged friend’s favourite spot!

From the sitting room you can access the wonderful enclosed lawned gardens and discover a beautiful space to enjoy, perfect for when your pooch wants to stretch their legs.

Make use of the various outdoor seating areas, where a morning cup of tea or coffee can be enjoyed, or sip a glass of wine watching the sunset on a sunny evening.

You can step straight out from the garden on to Rocky Common, where various footpaths and walks can be discovered.

After a day of exploring the Lakes and fells, indulge in a soothing soak in the bath or freshen up with a hot shower, before choosing from one of the three well-appointed bedrooms (two doubles and a single).

You will find the village of Witherslack holds a handy convenience store along with a local pub serving fish and chips, burgers and wood-fired pizzas, the perfect essentials for any self-catered stay.

The market town of Kendal or coastal town of Grange-over-Sands can offer a wider selection with the latter having a charming promenade with fabulous views of the sea and the coast.

Visit the Grange-over-Sands Golf Club for a scenic 18-hole course, whilst those who love horse riding will love being nearby to Witherslack Hall Equestrian Centre where you can enjoy a beautiful country hack through the Lake District.

Nearby the National Trust's Fell Foot Park is a great area for families to delight in a picnic with swimming and boating available here too.

Catch a Lakes Cruise up to Bowness-on-Windermere to marvel at The World of Beatrix Potter, amidst this quaint Lakes town you can find a selection of eateries and pubs to stop in.

Head over to Sizergh to see the 14th-century Sizergh Castle and be impressed by this medieval fortress containing Elizabethan carvings and original furniture; treat yourself to a cream tea in the café afterwards.
