“Absolutely loved our stay at Harbour Retreat!”

The property was short of nothing. The only reason I gave 4 stars for the cleanliness was just because it didn’t look like the bath had been cleaned prior to us being there and it was quite dusty but honestly nothing that put us off! On the whole the general living areas etc were clean enough and the beds were clean, comfortable and well presented Very comfortable family area, we had some lovely times playing board games etc. the fact there was a tv in each room was fab for the older ...

The property was short of nothing. The only reason I gave 4 stars for the cleanliness was just because it didn’t look like the bath had been cleaned prior to us being there and it was quite dusty but honestly nothing that put us off! On the whole the general living areas etc were clean enough and the beds were clean, comfortable and well presented Very comfortable family area, we had some lovely times playing board games etc. the fact there was a tv in each room was fab for the older kids when they needed some time to themselves.. honestly was such a nice break. If you’re looking for somewhere with kids however I’d probably look somewhere a bit closer to the main lakes as this took a 45 min journey minimum to get anywhere with things going on.. the property is fab for families but the location was a bit quiet for us. We had some lovely days out in Kendal and Windermere but it was a lot of driving about which made the days long and tiring. The local town is handy there’s a Tesco about 6 min drive away, there’s a lovely chippy across the road which was a godsend on our first night.. there’s also a Londis over the road but it shuts early so stock up on snacks and drinks for your evening before 5ish as it closes for the night. All in all a fab holiday and a lovely well presented and thoughtfully equipped home. Thanks so much for having us!

Thank you so much for your lovely review and for your kind comments about the house. We’re really pleased to hear that you had such a comfortable stay and that the family enjoyed the space. I’m sorry to hear that you found the location a little quiet and felt there was quite a lot of driving involved. We’re actually putting together a local map and guide for guests, as there are quite a few things within walking distance and only a short drive away that can easily be missed. For families, there’s a tennis court and basketball court just around the corner, next to the café, and a park with a zip line only a two-minute walk away. A little further towards the caravan park, there’s the Ski Bar for food and drinks, with watersports next door including skiing, banana boarding and inflatables on the lake. There are also several local places to eat and drink, including the Harbour, Middle Bar and Working Men’s Club, as well as the rugby and cricket clubs. We’re also fortunate to have both the lake and the sea right on our doorstep. There’s plenty to do further afield too. Horse riding is around a 10-minute drive away, there’s a miniature steam railway around 15 minutes away, Muncaster Castle is just up the road, and Coniston is only around 17 miles away. We appreciate everyone looks for something different from a holiday, and we’re sorry the location didn’t quite suit your family. Hopefully our new local map and guide will help future guests discover everything Haverigg and the surrounding area have to offer. Thank you again for staying with us. We’re really glad that, overall, you had such a lovely break. Property Owner
