“The bathroom drains smell like a toilet.”
Not the cleanest of properties. Hot tub only two sides work at a time when this is a six seat hot tub. Owners not ready for the 4 o’clock check-in so have to hang around. Apart from the view which was absolutely stunning this was the worst cottage we have stayed in the Lake District. Be careful if the cottage is not immaculate bearing in mind this is a college for six people they charge a £250 cleaning bill. We have had cleaned the floors and made sure everything was fine before we left yet still charge the £250.
The guests phoned me at 4pm to advise that they had arrived, I explained that I was showing guests around the cottage next door and that I would be with them in 5 minutes which I don't feel is an excessive wait.
I showed the guests around and they were extremely happy with the way the property was presented, I personally check the cottage over prior to arrival and can confirm it had been cleaned to a very high standard. The guests did not complain about any aspect of the cottage during their stay.
Unfortunately, we had to take £250.00 from the £500 bond as the cottage was left in a totally disgraceful state, the £250 went towards replacing the broken blind, damage to the bedside lamp, repainting a wall in the ground floor toilet, replacing soiled towels that were thrown in the bin and paying four Cleaners instead of the two it normally takes to turn the cottage around in the day.
There are six cottages on the estate which have been in operation since 2016, I can confirm that in 9 years we have only ever had to take money form the good housekeeping bond on 3 occasions, this being one of them.
I have sent all photographic evidence of the condition the cottage was left in to Sykes and advised that I would not except any further bookings from these guests.
