In the heart of Hawkshead with a large window to watch the comings and goings in the square below. Apartment was warm and cosy. Next time will bring two small cases rather than one large heavy one to negotiate the outside steps more easily!

“Lovely property, freshly decorated and right in the middle of Hawkshead.”

Perfect size for two adults and a dog! Very comfortable and had everything we needed. Very impressed with lakelovers service both before (plenty of information about the cottage/Hawshead/directions etc) and afterwards - we left something behind and contacted Phil, who responded very quickly and arranged to return item back to us - brilliant service!

“Can't praise this property any higher.”

Nice welcome pack on arrival, clean and tidy. Quality fixtures and fittings, kitchen appliances looked brand new. All cooking utensils provided, plates, dishes etc. Modern shower room, huge comfy bed. Pub only yards away, well stocked shop across the street. Will definitely be back.

“Perfect property in great location.”

We were surprised how spacious and well equipped the cottage was so well thought out. The bed was super comfy and enjoyed reclining on the loungers watching the comings and goings from the picture window. We've stayed in hawkshead for many years and now it's just the two of us we will certainly be coming back to spinners loft.

“Adventurous week in the Lake District.”

Spinners Loft was the perfect launching point and setting for us as Hawkshead is not as crowded as some of the other areas. We accessed several great walks directly from Hawkshead. Short drive to Coniston Water as well. Communication with the host was excellent and any issues resolved quickly. Welcome basket with local goodies also very much appreciated

“We had a wonderful stay.”

The apartment was well equipped, very comfortable, everything worked and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the comings and goings in the square below. Communication was superb too. Being 6ft 4" I adjusted to the beam and it wasn't a problem. Steps to flat were fine but maybe tricky if you have any balance issue or disability. Car parking season ticket worked well in Hawkshead and elsewhere. Pubs in Hawkshead were excellent as were cafes. Loads of walks from house too. This was up there with our best ever holiday. Weather helped but apartment definitely a contributing factor. Will be back!

An excellent base for local exploration. Excellent communication from the host on the lead up to and during our stay, with lots of recommendations for local eateries, walks and other points of interest. The accommodation is beautifully presented, and fitted with all the modern luxuries you could want in such a cosy traditional setting. The welcome hamper was a very nice touch, the mint cake and coffee being particularly appreciated for the long walks. We will most definitely be back if the opportunity presents itself.

“Comfort was good but scored down due to low beam directly under settee.”

I'm not tall but managed to scrape my head first day when standing up from said settee. Perhaps a rejig so the settee sits to one side. Rest of lodge could not fault, from the welcome pack, to the comfy bed, wonderful shower and separate dressing room. Definitely recommend staying here, bang in the middle of Hawkshead near the pubs and shops. Great walks without having to take the car out.

“Spinners Loft is an absolute gem of a place: beautifully appointed with quality fittings and furnishings, spotlessly clean and the friendliest and most communicative owner we have ever encountered.”

We have stayed in a number of really lovely cottages in Hawkshead over the years and this one tops the lot. Bonuses include a six foot bed (rarer than hens’ teeth in holiday properties) and a reclining sofa for cosy evenings in. We only ate breakfast there (picnic lunches and Queen’s Head suppers are our default mode when in Hawkshead) but the kitchen seemed very well-equipped. Our hound loved watching the comings and goings from her fleece on the window seat and we enjoyed the usual walks straight from the front door in lovely weather throughout our stay. We’ll be back!

“Great holiday let.”

Well equipped and really comfortable. The host is really generous leaving a fantastic welcome pack for us, supplying fire wood for our full break, dishwasher tabs, cleaning equipment, cling film and foil - all the small things that add up when you only need a small amount for your trip. “I could not recommend Spinners Loft enough!”

We had such a lovely stay. The flat had everything you needed and more, having access to the logs and kindling hut was an added bonus as well! We thoroughly enjoyed our evenings sat on the recliner sofa by the log fire. Everywhere was spotless and the welcome hamper was such a lovely touch. We will definitely be turning to Spinners Loft, could not fault it!:)

“This was our first stay in the Lake District and Spinners Loft was the perfect base.”

It was very well presented and spotlessly clean on arrival, with even a hamper of goodies waiting for us. Wonderful wood burner with logs included which made for cosy evenings after a few wet walks! The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you need like pans, utensils, tea, coffee etc. Spacious bed and great to have a dressing room too. Perfect for a couples break and dog friendly too. We’ll definitely be back!

“I cannot say enough about how lovely this cottage is, you will be so pleased if you do book here.”

I was worried as there were not many reviews but I should not have been as it was truly one of the best rentals we have ever had. The owner was a fantastic communicator and easy to reach with the few questions I had. The kitchen is perfectly fitted with plenty of basic supplies and easy to use. There is a very well stocked Co-Op just outside so you can cook in if you like. There is even a new washer/dryer which was great to clean up our hiking gear! The living area is cozy and warm. The fireplace was wonderful and the dressing room a real bonus. The bed was so comfortable and the bathroom clean and modern. The space was a perfect for our needs and even a bit larger than I had expected. The town of Hawkshead is a dream out of a picture book and the people were warm and welcoming. We arrived after dark which was a bit of a challenge but we managed with Phil's help to get settled very quickly and have time for a pint in the Red Lion ( literally steps away). The Sykes App made it even easier so definitely worth the download.

HAWKSHEAD

Ambleside 5.1 miles; Kendal 17.4 miles.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy!
