    “4th or5th time we have stayed at Old Droomer,great house in a great location but this time we have a few problems to highlight Both blinds in the kitchen do not work,roller blind won’t stay up and Roman blind won’t go down.”

    Lock on downstairs missing peg.House needing a good clean,lots of cobwebs and carpet in Bedroom carpet needs a good clean Great house but needs some attention.

The property

This 17th century 'chocolate box' character cottage nestles in a quiet location on the edge of Windermere village, with lovely views of the surrounding fells and yet only a 15 minute walk into Windermere Village with it's host of superb amenities.

Ideal as a base for a family or walking holiday the cottage has a beautiful, large enclosed garden and is literally minutes away from footpaths leading to various walks in the area, including the Cumbrian Way and School Knott with its fantastic views.

Windermere has some lovely local shops and eateries and plenty for your self-catering needs with 2 good butchers, a bakery, wine shop and supermarket.

Windermere Lake is only 1.5 miles away and easily reached on foot or by bus.

Accommodation: For 2015 Old Droomer has been completely renovated and extended and was highly commended in the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2015, and includes a beautiful newly built oak framed spacious garden room, stylish new kitchen and 3 new bathrooms. Old Droomer is really charming with a wealth of character features, beamed ceilings, wooden doors and spice cupboards giving it a very cosy and welcoming feel.

Enter through an outside porch into hallway with stone floor.

Snug lounge, staircase and dining room all lead off.

The snug has flatscreen TV, DVD, beamed ceiling, large log burning stove and windows looking both out onto the garden and to the front of the cottage.

Large middle hallway, which is great for decamping and storing coats and boots with patio doors to the garden and leads through to the kitchen.

Spacious breakfast kitchen beautifully fitted with cream painted and oak units with views looking over the lane to one side and the garden and fields to the other.

Useful downstairs bathroom off the hallway (shower, basin & wc).

Stunning garden room leads off the kitchen with oak A-frame beams and floor to ceiling windows at one end with patio doors to the side.

Comfy corner sofa and easy seating and dining table to seat eight - a great space to enjoy the garden where deer often visit. Upstairs in the main house there are three bedrooms, one with a king size bed, one twin and one with a 5ft double bed which has en-suite with bath with shower over, basin and wc.

Fourth bedroom located in 'The Stables' accessed up a steep space saver staircase has a king sized bed and en-suite shower, basin and wc.

The property has oil central heating, wooden floors with underfloor heating and fitted carpets upstairs keeping it warm and cosy whatever the weather. Outside: Opposite the front of the cottage there is a private parking area for up to three large cars.

Beautiful, large, enclosed garden to rear with patio furniture and lovely views.

Please be aware that there is an open pond in the garden so care needs to be taken with young children.

Pub/bar/restaurant and village facilities approx 15 mins walk.

WINDERMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 8.7 miles.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
