    “Firstly, on the positive side, this accommodation is ideally placed for access to the west side of Lake Windermere and a short ferry trip and walk to Bowness on Windermere.”

    The property is beautiful and the view over the peaceful bay from the deck is a great place to sit and relax after a day walking in the Lakes. Bed was comfortable and accommodation was an ideal size for two people. On the negative side, the rug and sofa in the living room stank of wet dog and both need a good clean, (or binned in the case of the rug) the interior could do with a good clean and there was a damp smell in the bathroom. The blind in the bathroom couldn’t be raised and was down ...

The blind in the bathroom couldn’t be raised and was down all the time (we left the windows behind it open to try to get rid of the damp smell) Outside the property there was a lot of rubbish lying around and weeds growing which gave the property a scruffy appearance. All in all, we liked the location and it was a lovely building but there are a few maintenance issues that require attention.

This lovely set of seven cottages rest in the village of Far Sawrey, close to Hawkshead and Bowness. Hawkshead 3.9 miles; Bowness (via ferry) 1.5 miles.

The village of Far Sawrey has a pub/restaurant, whilst Bowness, with all its shops, restaurants and leisure facilities, is just a short distance across the lake by ferry. Also close by is ‘Hill Top’, once the home of Beatrix Potter, and Hawkshead with its picturesque 17th century cottages. Footpaths lead from the grounds to the village and Claife Heights - a noted beauty spot of forests and tarns. Watersports are close at hand on Windermere, along with Lake Cruises and the majestic Wray Castle to admire. Fishing can be enjoyed on nearby Esthwaite Water and, of course, fell walking.
