    “Beautiful location, especially as we were blessed with sunshine all week.”

    It's possible to go for walks from the front door, and Bowness was only 10 minutes away on the ferry. The cottage has everything you could possibly want for a couple plus parking right outside. Couple of things would push rating to 5 stars. A thinner duvet (only bedding was 13.5 tog) plus bed spread would be better as we couldn't get temperature for sleeping quite right. Also the shower needs attention. The shower head kept lowering (a replacement fixing is cheap and would solve that) and one of ...

No accident occurred and my husband managed to pop it back into place. I couldn't have done it though. If possible could the owners contact the council and get the "Keep clear" road markings repainted? Not a major problem for us, but once the ferry crossing gets busy it will become an issue, as cars parked over the access to parking spaces. We would definitely come again (this was our second visit, just to a different cottage)

FAR SAWREY

Hawkshead 3.9 miles; Bowness (via ferry) 1.5 miles.

The village of Far Sawrey has a pub/restaurant, whilst Bowness, with all its shops, restaurants and leisure facilities, is just a short distance across the lake by ferry. Also close by is ‘Hill Top’, once the home of Beatrix Potter, and Hawkshead with its picturesque 17th century cottages. Footpaths lead from the grounds to the village and Claife Heights - a noted beauty spot of forests and tarns. Watersports are close at hand on Windermere, along with Lake Cruises and the majestic Wray Castle to admire. Fishing can be enjoyed on nearby Esthwaite Water and, of course, fell walking.
