We are thrilled to offer the beautiful Grade 2 listed Yew Tree Farm to our holiday guests.
This truly iconic Lake District farmhouse nestles in the quiet Coniston valley and is one of the most well known and most pictured buildings in the National Park.
Once owned by Beatrix Potter, who left it to The National Trust, it was used as Miss Potter's home in the film 'Miss Potter' starring Rene Zellweger and Ewan McGregor, and has been visited by many celebrities over the years.
Emma Thompson stayed and even The Queen visited the farm on her last visit to the Lakes.
It has featured in various TV programmes and photo shoots.
This is very much a working farm rearing Herdwick sheep and Belted Galloways and you can even collect your own breakfast eggs from the farm chickens.
The surrounding area abounds in wonderful scenery being less than a mile from both Tarn Hows and Yew Tree Tarn.
There are walks and rambles in abundance, bridle paths for cyclists and local fishing on Esthwaite Water and Coniston Water.
Lake Windermere, Grizedale Forest and surrounding high peaks are there to be explored.
The original farmhouse dates back to early 17thC with later additions in the 1720's.
It really does ooze character with a wealth of period features and antique pieces including some of Beatrix Potter's own furniture.
Accommodation : Entrance porch in to panelled hallway.
The panelled sitting room (TV) is to one side of the hall with the dining room opposite - imagine being able to dine off Beatrix Potter's own dining table in the room which was once BP's own tea shop!
Both rooms have open fires and feature oak floors.
To the rear of the cottage is a well equipped, newly fitted kitchen.
The magnificent period oak staircase features 250 year old panelling and leads to the three charmingly comfortable bedrooms each with feature bespoke beds and fine period decor.

The master bedroom with its pitched ceiling and cruck beams has king-size four poster (en-suite rain shower, basin and wc/ heated floor ).
