“Beautiful family getaway in the heart of Lakes.”

Everything you could want and more! Bedrooms were great, beds comfy, space to unpack and everyone had peaceful sleep after long days walking and outdoors. Kitchen was well stocked and catered for our children as well, we appreciated the bottle of Prosecco as a welcome gift after a gruelling motorway journey to the property! Hot tub was an added luxury that was enjoyed, and the provided robes made the quick dash to the warmth of the house that bit more manageable (it was October half term after ...

Everything you could want and more! Bedrooms were great, beds comfy, space to unpack and everyone had peaceful sleep after long days walking and outdoors. Kitchen was well stocked and catered for our children as well, we appreciated the bottle of Prosecco as a welcome gift after a gruelling motorway journey to the property! Hot tub was an added luxury that was enjoyed, and the provided robes made the quick dash to the warmth of the house that bit more manageable (it was October half term after all!). Hosts were contactable if necessary and we will definitely look at booking again.

“We had a lovely stay at Silver Birches and would certainly recommend this property.”

It was well maintained, was as described and everything worked well, showers, heating, hot tub, we had no issues whatsoever. The smaller details surpassed our expectations as it is literally a home from home, there is an abundance of crockery, pans, baking equipment, literally everything you could wish for, there was handwash in each bathroom and toilet, shower gel available, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, dish cloths, tea towels, bin liners. A fantastic utility room with 2 washing machines and a drier, an air fryer, DAB radio, the list goes on. The bottle of Prosecco and pint of milk was a lovely gesture after a 3.5 hour drive :-) Location is pretty perfect, a short walk into Windermere with a lovely amount of shops and a handful of restaurants, Bowness on Windermere is a short drive, as is Ambleside. We did leave a few items at the property on the day of departure and the owner called me to arrange the return which was hugely appreciated. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

“This was our second visit to Silver Birches and on arrival the property was very clean and well presented.”

Noticed a couple of improvements such as an air fryer in the kitchen and new furniture in the Garden Room. Everything you could require was provided including robes and towels for the hot tub and high quality toileteries that were so good we purchased some at the store in Bowness The location is perfect and is a short stroll from Windermere village or a longer walk or short drive to Bowness We particularly enjoyed the hot tub whilst our puppy enjoyed exploring the secure garden area The property gets booked up quickly and to avoid disappointment we booked another stay when we got back home Highly recommended

“The property was superb.”

Location is ideal being just at the top end of Windermere, and Bowness being a gentle walk down the hill. The hot tub in a very private garden was a nice way to end every day. Only one negative comment and that was the duvets were far too heavy for the time of year.

“Silver Birches is a beautifully presented property.”

Extremely clean on arrival. Lovely gardens with the big back garden enclosed to keep dog safe. Great hot tub with robes provided. Nice quiet area surrounded by picturesque lanes and walks. Very close to shops/ restaurants and Lake Windermere. We visited Boness escape rooms, Lakeland Wildlife Oasis and went paddleboarding on Lake Windermere. House and area are faultless. Five star accommodation. Great base for holiday to the Lake District.

“Extremely well equipped and the location is perfect as described by Sykes.”

Wellcome back was very much appreciated as were the Dressing gowns for the fantastic hot tub. The secure garden meant that our 2 dogs could roam and explore at their leisure. Our 3 grandkids absolutely loved the garden room ‘den’ and of course the hot tub. This is by far the best Lake District rental that we have experienced with a very homely and relaxed ambience feeling as soon as you enter Silver Birches. “A well equipped and clean bungalow in a quiet cul de sac which is ideally located for exploring Windermere and Bowness The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything you might need for a self catering break We were lucky enough to have excellent weather and made a lot of use of the outdoor space including the hot tub, the robes and towels supplied were a great bonus.”

Our dog enjoyed the large secure garden area and the traffic free walk into Windermere village We had a minor issue with the preparation of the property for our arrival but this was quickly resolved with a telephone call to Lakelovers We are already planning to return next year.

“I was really disappointed in the cleanliness 9f the property.”

I really do not believe the floors had been washed as several white marks on living room floor that easily wiped away when I washed it. Also rugs beside bed in twin room were disgusting and no way they had been cleaned. They were so bad I put them under the bed as refused to stand on them. Have pictures to bsbk this. The sun room was also a disappointment as it too needed a good sweep put as dead moths and crumbs/debris from previous guests. The twin room (which is the one I used) generally was disappointing as expected better than the shabby , worn furniture. All in all location great but dint think it is worth the money asked as go yobthe lakes every year and hsve stayed in better. Covid is still around and therefore cleanliness is s must. Have tried to reach out to lake lovers re this but not sure if my email has sent properly and would qppreciate a call back to discuss.

“Everything was as advertised, lovely property, enjoyed the hot tub!”

We have visited many properties around the Lakes and this is one of the best.. Couple of maintenance items- couldn’t find any light switches for the outside summer house. And also appears to be slight mice issue under the kitchen sink. As bin too small, we used a bin bag which was nibbled through overnight…might need to put some traps down.

“We have just returned after a weeks stay at Silver Birches and can’t recommend this property highly enough!”

This property is faultless and is in a fantastic location with adequate parking. On arrival we were delighted with what we saw, including fresh flowers and fizz, what a lovely welcoming gesture. Immaculately clean and well-furnished throughout. Bedrooms are spacious with nice fresh bedding on very comfortable beds. The bathrooms are clean and modern. The lounge and dining area is spacious with a lovely coal effect gas fire which we enjoyed use of on the cold evenings. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, including a large fridge with an icemaker, leading through to a good sized utility room with washing facilities. The Hot Tub is fantastic which made our holiday complete and the provision of towels and robes was appreciated. It was ideal for our dog who loved his holiday too, laminate flooring and doors sectioning off the bedroom areas from the lounge area where he peacefully slept was perfect. We will definitely be returning to Silver Birches.

The hot tub was brilliant, being well used and much appreciated, especially by our teenage girls. Only a short distance to walk into Windermere and some nice local walks to exercise our dog. Overall we all had a wonderful time and would have given 5* but, unfortunately, there was building work being carried out at the property directly opposite. There were days when heavy vehicles were unloading materials and laying concrete some mornings between 7.00 and 8.00. Obviously this is only a temporary problem but, it did detract from a quiet, relaxing holiday.

Back garden is well enclosed so the dogs can be left to roam around the back by themselves while humans soak in the hot tub. Short and pleasant walk to Lake Windermere itself to exercise the hounds. It was spotlessly clean, very spacious and very well equipped. It was also lovely to have a Christmas tree, lights, decorations and prosecco and biscuits left by the owners. It is only a five minute walk into Windermere centre and is well placed for visiting other places in the Lakes. We will be back!

The only things we struggled the check out time. Checking out for 9am with 2 young children and dogs was a bit of a push and felt quite rushed to get out in time. If it was 10am, I think it would have been much easier and maybe not forgotten to do a few things before leaving. This was our first UK vacation for sometime and would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit the area.

The kitchen is well equipped with good quality items and the furniture throughout the house is comfortable though we would have preferred firmer sofas in the lounge. It was very nice to have thick towels and robes for the hot tub and to be able to use the washing machine and tumble dryer. Instructions for the remotes for the tv would have been very helpful. Many thanks to the staff at Sykes and the cleaner who managed to fulfil a very late request. We would be very likely to visit this bungalow again.

“There was a lovely welcome of Prosecco, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and milk in the fridge when we arrived.”

Everything in the bungalow was too a high standard and of good quality. Towels and robes were provided for the hot tub and toiletries were available in every room. The kitchen and utility room were well equipped and instructions were readily available for all the appliances. Good instructions were available for the heating. The gas fire in the lounge quickly added any necessary additional heat. There are lots of places to sit outside, including a heated summer house. Much of the garden and hot tub area is very private. The centre of Windermere can be reached on foot in under 10 minutes. The only thing that I would recommend to improve our stay would be to provide a larger fitted sheet for the bed in the room with the en-suite bathroom. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

The largest bedroom, The Garden Room, can be presented as either a superking or twin bedded room giving the property the extra flexibility to offer great accommodation all year round. Silver Birches is ideally situated on the edge of Windermere Village, with all the local amenities, shops and a great selection of bars and restaurants just a few minutes' walk from the cottage but also offering easy access to the central Lake District making the ideal base for touring and exploring.

Whether it by walking, mountain biking, climbing, sailing or canoeing, all are within easy reach of Silver Birches, along with the huge wealth of cultural attractions the Lake District has to offer. Accommodation in detail Set on a corner plot, on a quiet cul-de-sac and standing in a garden that regularly wins Windermere In Bloom awards, Silver Birches is approached along a short driveway.

Two steps lead up to the front door opens to an inner hallway with boot racks and coat hanging.

The open plan lounge/dinner is a great social space with comfortable sofas arranged around the coffee table, large screen TV and gas fire.

The family dining place is the ideal place to relax over dinner with friends and patio doors open from here to the patio and garden. The well-appointed kitchen is well planned with five ring gas hob, electric double oven, dishwasher, microwave and American style larder fridge / freezer with ice machine.

The utility room is home to the laundry facilities; a washing machine and tumble drier.

The handy cloakroom provides an additional WC. Choose from three bedrooms, the bright and airy, triple aspect Garden Room offers lovely views across the garden and can be made up either as a superking or twin 3ft beds (please specify when booking) and patio doors open from here to a small patio with bistro table and chairs and from here steps lead down to the garden.

The second bedroom is furnished with a welcoming superking bed and complemented with a luxurious ensuite shower room with walk in shower, basin and WC.

The third bedroom is well furnished with a king size bed and offers views over the garden.

The smart family bathroom offers a bath, separate electric shower with enclosure, basin and WC. Stepping outside, guests are welcome to enjoy the hot tub and to relax on the patio.

The summer house is the ideal place to escape with a drink and a good book and the mature garden, which includes a small lawned area, wraps around the property.

There is parking for up to two cars on the driveway, with additional on street parking close by.

The garage is available to guests for the secure storage of canoes and mountain bikes.
