    “Really great cottage in a wonderful location.”

    We had everything we needed and Millie was always available if we needed any help. When we arrived the table was set with a bottle of bucks fizz which was a nice touch. I have read previous negative reviews and there are some tired areas in the bathroom regarding the sealant around the bath. This was not an issue for us but however people do complain.We loved it however and hope to return one day. A great host and great location.

The market town of Ulverston is a colourful destination with a regular calendar of festivals, including the traditional flag festival and lantern procession, plus of course some excellent restaurants.

Just a five minute walk from this Pennington cottage is a pub with its own microbrewery and there is a farm shop in the hamlet.

PENNINGTON

Ulverston 3 miles; Coniston 11 miles.

Pennington is a small hamlet with a scattering of dwellings, farms and country pubs, situated on the beautiful Lake District Peninsula, an area of tranquillity, gentle hills and unspoilt walking country. Locally, the start of the Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths can be located, and the twin pubs at Great Urswick Tarn are renowned locally for their fine ales and good food. Pennington's nearby neighbour, Ulverston, is an ancient market town that still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today, the town is well known as a “Festival Town”, with events throughout the year, and as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! Facilities include a wide range of independent shops, pubs, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. All of the attractions of the National Park are easily reached. The Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Nearby family attractions include Furness Abbey, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Conishead Priory, Holker Hall and Muncaster Castle.
