“Amazing property and the whole family thoroughly enjoyed our week at Hazelnut Cottage!”

The rooms were beautiful and the house immaculate. The main bathroom was a real luxury, and all the bedrooms were well thought out with comfortable beds and lovely lighting. The adults particularly enjoyed relaxing in the cosy living room, while the younger members of the party could not get enough of the superb cinema/games room.....a Godsend considering the wet and changeable summer weather! The house is situated within a few minutes walk of the town centre with all it's quaint shops and restaurants, yet has an away-from-it all feel. Also within a comfortable walk/five minute drive to the busier Bowness-on-Windermere and its famous lake. Hazelnut Cottage is a real home-from-home and the owner has thought of everything to make a luxurious and comfortable stay. Would highly recommend this property and we will no doubt be back!

The cinema room in the basement was an added bonus. Slightly tight parking 2 cars so quite often parked second car in the street. Visitors permit is provided. Would highly recommend.

“Great location near centre of Windermere , excelllent kitchen with 2 ovens and 6 ring hob so easy to cook for 7 as and when required .”

The basement with large screen TV , darts and table football were a big hit, easy to relax in the spacious lounge and comfortable beds after a days walking were much apprecited . On street parking permit in addition to space in the garden was a bonus . Highly recommended

We were so very impressed with the high standard of cleanliness throughout the cottage . Exceptionally clean and spacy with all the facilities within that you would need. A great location close to the town centre but with the quietness associated with the countryside. The beds are great, best sleep had in ages. We had three generations with us and the cottage catered for all. I cannot speak more highly of the place. Host contacted me in advance and made herself available should we have an issues. We didn't, but the fact that I had recieved rhe contact was really appreciated. The sun shining all week was the icing on the cake. A truly lovely location.

Everything you need and more. Clean as a whistle, perfect location in the middle of Windermere town, which has everything you need. Only a short walk or bus ride to the lake. Kids were more than happy with the cinema and games room in the basement. We will definatley return

“We all had a fabulous time at the cottage, the kids absolutely loved it and the huge bonus was the games room and cinema.”

Adults of course loved it too. House is spectacular, so clean, and everything that you could possibly need inside. All the special touches make it so much more homely. We booked with our friends who were over from Australia and the house did not disappoint. Such a fab location too right next to town and the park is only at the end of the road. We would book again without a doubt. Nicola is so accommodating, lovely and happy to help.

“A great cottage in a good location.”

It was very comfortable & well equipped with plenty of cutlery.glassware & crockery etc all of which were of good quality. The welcome basket of local cakes etc was a nice touch. There was just one downside. We understood that there was a shared garden space.which wasn’t a problem,but unfortunately we didn’t use it. The reason being that it was very untidy with lots of weeds & dead plants. It really needed some attention to make it into a place where you wanted to sit & have a coffee. Having said that it wouldn’t stop us visiting again.

“Absolutely super stay, enabling us to complete a good few Wainwright walks.”

The cottage is ideally situated, and we will definitely be coming again. There were 3 small observations - a squidgy for the shower doors would have been good as we like to clean down the shower doors, and also a wash basket so that when the washing machine was unloaded it's easier to dump them in a plastic basket ready to hang, finally a butter knife spreading butter with the cutting knives wasn't the easiest. It really is a splendid home and we all agreed it is home from home. The owners, Nicola and Chris went the extra mile in providing more than the average kitchen utensils and home equipment. Local amenities are great, and the little touches on arrival, like the chocolates and cake were very much appreciated. Thank you for everything we were very sad to leave on Saturday. x

Very well equipped and very spacious. The basement games area was an added bonus especially as it was very warm and we were able to cool off with our grandson. One minor problem was the shower in the en-suite which was not very powerful but was still ok to use. Overall a very nice accomodation

“What an amazing holiday cottage!”

Even better than in the photos - often photos make rooms look bigger than they really are - not in this case, spacious lounge, in fact, spacious throughout. Huge utility area with darts board and table footie. Extremely comfortable beds with quality pillows and duvets. Kitchen equipment as good as at home. DVD selection extensive. Christmas decorations tastefully done. Location also perfect for shops, cafes and accessing the fells. The log burner kept us toastie even with the frost and frozen pavements outside. We really hope to return to this amazing property.

“The cottage is lovely, perfect for our extended family .”

The kitchen is well equipped and our teenagers loved the cinema room. The beds were all very comfortable and the rooms spacious with plenty of space to store clothes. The parking is really a bit to tight for two cars but you can squeeze them in with some clever reversing, only a couple of inches between cars and between the cars and the wall so not for the faint hearted. There is a parking permit to use for on street parking but rarely any spaces available near the cottage in the evenings. We would recommend Hazelnut Cottage and thank the owners for the warm welcome we received.

The beds are really comfortable, the kitchen and dining room are spacious and our group of 8 had a great time hiking in the hills for a week. Would definitely recommend this property for a group. There are 2 parking spaces outside the property and a single parking permit for the road

“Cottage location was excellent with many amenities within walking distance.”

Beds were comfortable and the cottage had everything we needed for our holiday. Attention to detail was excellent and the owners quickly answered any questions we had. Parking was tight for two cars but the owners helpfully provided a parking permit for on street parking which worked well. Excellent Italian restaurant called San Pietro only 2 minutes walk and 3 small supermarkets within easy walking distance. Best self catering accommodation we have found to date.

Key arrangement very easy and property very clean on arrival. Welcome basket much appreciated. House has been renovated to a high standard. Our eldest son loved the LED strip lighting. Basement movie room was nice to have in the evening, no need to take dvds as there are 100s. Kitchen equipment very good. Shops, restaurants and mini supermarkets literally at end of road. Bowness approximately 25 min walk away. Will come again!

“This cottage was absolutely perfect!”

! We go in about 2 staycations every year and by far this is the best cottage We have stayed in. The cinema and games room was an absolute bonus and kept the kids entertained. Also the quality of the furniture and kitchen equipment was amazing! Which is rare to find, usually you look forward to going back home and using your own stuff but in this case it was the opposite! The cottage looks small from the outside but is massive inside, lots of cool gadgets like changing colour LED lights in the bedrooms and touch screen LED mirrors in the bathroom. Honestly I never like to stay in the same place more than once but I would definitely stay here again! Best staycation I’ve been on!

“This is a beautifully furnished house - the photos just don’t do it justice.”

And it’s very deceptive from the front - it’s much more spacious than you might think! If you want quality accommodation, near to village facilities, including eateries, this is the spot for you. We had a lovely break at the end of March - it snowed! - but we were very cosy with the log burner lit, soft lighting and a good film and great food! Clearly, the downstairs cinema was also a great addition - TopGun was definitely the fav film to watch!!

“This is a fantastic Cottage.”

High-quality facilities throughout. The decor in every room is superb and we loved the little details too from the ambient lighting, the USB sockets, extremely well stocked kitchen, range of books, dvds and games, the underfloor heating, etc I could go on. Our hosts were extremely welcoming, leaving a lovely little welcome hamper, bowl of chocs, handy hint "packs" and even offering to show us how to light the fantastic wood burning stove. The website photos do show the property well but i have to mention the cinema/games room this was on another level, we all loved spending time in there, it was an excellent feature and great space for family get togethers. I would stay again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend to anyone.

“Wow what an amazing cottage!”

! Me and my family stayed 7 nights and we enjoyed ourselves so much. The cottage is very modern and the facilties are amazing. The games room/cinema room was fab and we spent so much time in there. The mood lighting in the bathrooms and bedrooms was a very nice touch. Only 25mins walk into bowness! So perfect location too! All in all we had a fab stay and would definitely come back. “Hazelnut Cottage is probably the best self catering house we've ever stayed in.”

It's done to an extremely high spec throughout and there was plenty of everything. Nothing was scrimped on. Fantastic T.V room downstairs, super comfy beds. Fantastic location. Couldn't fault the property at all. We did have issues with the heating and hot water but the owner was very responsive in trying to sort them. The only improvement I could suggest is getting rid of the flower bed/ stones outside so that parking for two cars is not as stressful.

“What a wonderful cottage.”

We were a family group and we all loved everything, a lovely log burning stove for us oldies to sit and relax with a glass of wine and a fabulous cinema room for the grandchildren to chill in. We had to contact the owners for a small issue but they called and sorted it immediately. Can’t fault anything and loved the welcome hamper and there was also a lovely Christmas tree set up. We hope to be back next year.

“Well what can I say, perfection pretty much.”

No expense has been spared on this house, its just stunning, straight out of a magazine. We used it for a special birthday celebration where 2 families met up. Couldn't have found a better place, the kitchen was brilliant with 2 ovens and everything you could need, the dining room was great for our family meals. The bedrooms were just fantastic, those changing colour lights are all wonderful touch. I'd only pick up on the front twin and back ensure room being a tad chilly, though it was very windy, the heaters didn't see to get hot. The main bathroom.........wow! Id have lived n there, i loved it, the decor and heated floor ans mirror and shower just wow! However as others have said the icing on the cake was the basement cinema and games room, our children just loved it as well as my other family members, who knew we were so competitive at darts! I think a few orders are wanting to be put in for those bean bags too!! Location was perfect we definitely want to return.

“Wow this is a really luxurious house where the owners have clearly spared no expense to make your stay as comfortable as possible.”

Everything down to the plentiful cutlery draw, the log supply, the mood lighting in the bedrooms and bathrooms, the welcome pack and the huge TV in the cinema room was just perfect. The location couldn’t be any better either - 2 mins walk into Windermere and 20mins into Bowness. “Hazelnut Cottage is a beautiful property in the heart of Windermere with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable, relaxing stay.”

The owners, Chris and Nicola, have really thought carefully about the layout which means there is lots of living space and everywhere has been finished to a high standard so it feels really luxurious. We loved everything about it (especially the pillows - they were so comfortable!) and the little touches that really made it feel like a home away from home. I can't recommend it highly enough and we are already planning a return trip.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
