    “Excellent location and well appointed.”

    Might be worth mentioning for future guests that there are no toilet facilities on living floor level. This could be problematic for elderly guests having to continually negotiate stairs. Otherwise, we thorough enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Found in the centre of Windermere in the heart of the Lake District is this stunning townhouse, Prospect House, set over four floors and boasting lavish style and décor.

This four-bedroom property can accommodate up to eight guests on an amazing adventure to the Lake District, being in the centre of the action and just a stone's throw from the shores of Lake Windermere.

Returning to the comfort of the striking sitting room after a rigorous ramble, featuring a rugged slate feature wall and an impressive, suspended woodburning stove, you can relax on the sofas amidst the bold décor as you watch the TV.

Choose to unwind in the second sitting room found on the lower ground floor instead, offering a large plush sofa to curl up on and another TV, great for quiet moments catching up on your favourite show or family film nights. While on this floor, find a beautiful bedroom home to a super-king-size bed, which can be a twin on request, with a large sofa, dressing table and plenty of storage, served by the shower room also on this floor. Back on the ground floor is the gorgeous kitchen/diner, decorated with soft, neutral hues, and boasting a quality selection of appliances, including a large range cooker, for cooking up tasty meals for the group to be enjoyed around the elegant dining table. Make your way up to the first floor to find two further bedrooms, each home to a king-size bed and benefitting from a state-of-the-art en-suite shower room.

Completing the property is the second-floor master bedroom, not only enjoying plenty of space, dual aspect windows, a king-size bed and ample storage, but also served by a stunning luxury bathroom with a freestanding bath for long relaxing soaks, a walk-in shower and a his 'n' hers basin.

A patio area outside offers a charming spot to start the day with breakfast alfresco, before stepping out onto the streets of Windermere to begin the day's adventure; discover local cafés and restaurants to enjoy delicious food at along with pubs for well-earned drinks after a long walk, all on your doorstep!

Lake Windermere is just a stone's throw away, head here for a world of activities; choose to relax on a Lakes cruise up to one of the other lakeside towns, hire a boat to go at your own pace admiring the scenery and various islands, take kayaks and canoes out onto the water or try some exciting watersports with a local activity organiser like water-skiing and paddle-boarding.

Embark on a walk around Windermere's shores and nearby villages, or get your bikes out to explore the area further, ascending one of the surrounding hills to experience breath-taking views over the water and mountains beyond. Family fun can be had at Brockhole on Windermere, an activity centre offering archery and mini-golf as well as Treetop Lake District where visitors must traverse a rope obstacle course in the trees!

Children and adults alike are sure to love The World of Beatrix Potter, a popular attraction in the neighbouring town of Bowness-on-Windermere bringing the beloved children's author's characters to life.

Cruise up to Ambleside to enjoy a ramble up to Stock Ghyll Force or head south to Lakeside to visit the Lakes Aquarium.

The Lake District is a walker's paradise with many peaks and fells to explore and hike up, with nearby challenges including Dollywaggon Pike, Cunswick Scar, Gummer's How and Helvellyn.

Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 8.7 miles.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
