“On the whole, the house was lovely, and ideally situated for anyone not minding a walk to either Bowness or Windermere.”

The size of the house invites large parties, I'd encourage a home delivery shop from your preferred supermarket, as access to a supermarket with a carpark is restricted to Booths, which is fine, but likely to run into expensive for some! There is nothing lacking from the house, but a few points of note. Refuse collection. Takes place very early on a Thursday morning...very early is pre 6am! We missed it. However, on reading the notice about it again, our minds switched off after 'very early Thursday morning' registered and totally missed the paragraph that asked us to present our bin on Wednesday night...our mistake...but clearly made by the previous occupiers too, as the bin was half full when we arrived. I'd kindly suggest this notice is re written, with the urgency placed on Wednesday evening, rather than very early Thursday! We reported missed collection to Lakelovers as requested. I'd read a previous review about dog poo being everywhere in the garden and a family not allowing their young children out to play because of it. As dog owners, we are extremely responsible, so we checked the grounds BEFORE we let our dogs out of our cars. Yep...dog poo was on the lawn...and several times, but the garden is NOT ENCLOSED, and is accessible to any dog that chooses to wander, and obviously, a local dog does! We cleaned up after EVERY visit to the garden by our pups! Pillows...all of us thought they were quite poor and lumpy, as was my quilt. When stripping the bed as requested, the quilt was discovered as being devoid of filling, it was more chunks of filling, presumably from washing and drying. It wasn't cosy to sleep under. Kitchen. Really well appointed, I've got kitchen envy now!! I cooked one evening for the family, but noticed the tiled area behind the range cooker was greasy...from top to bottom. I cleaned it, it was obviously missed over several occasions. The Dyson vacuum was full, and we couldn't empty it because our bin was full, if you've emptied a vacuum like this, you know it's a messy business, you need space to empty and catch the detritus! Please, could the owners supply a soft bristle brush for the hard floors, and a dustpan and brush? One more point of note...and mentioned in two of the four bedrooms...dead flies behind furniture and under the windows. Might not be down to cleaners not pulling furniture forward, might just be the flies getting in and dying. We don't know, but they were there. Truthfully, the house was lovely, well appointed, with parking accessible on the road if two spaces in the driveway aren't enough. We had several cars as we were coming from all over the country, but it was never an issue.
