Philip Kenneth “Has one of us uses a walking stick the front door step was a little high perhaps a portable step outside would be good”

Lyn “Our second stay at Thyme Cottage and although the first stay was really lovely, our second stay surpassed our memories!”
Absolutely amazing location to access all areas of The Lake District. To be able to stay in the middle of Windermere with a parking space and a bus stop, restaurants, pubs and shops within a very short walk, it takes some beating. I would also like to say thanks to Jess and the owner for resolving an issue with the hot water so very quickly. Definitely will come back.
- Lyn, August 2024 -
Roger “We've stayed at Thyme Cottage many times.”
We love it! A great location really quiet, you'd never believe it's only 50 yards of Windermere village with easy access to bus routes - there's no need to use the car. We'll be back next year.
- Roger, August 2024 -
William “An enjoyable week in the Lakes even though the weather was not to good.”
Accommodation was excellent. Lots of local walks, ideal location for shops, pubs and restaurants. Lovely Italian restaurants a nice Chinese and a cracking chippy. This is our 3rd stay at Thyme Cottage and will not be our last.
- William, August 2024 -
Helen “Perfect for couples, clean and tidy.”
The driveway is narrow but we got our pick-up through. Buses up and down the lake are fantastic! Will definitely stay again!

A high standard of accomadation, very comfortable. Reseved parking a great bonus and very close to pubs, shops and foodplaces. Bus stops on the high street minutes from cottage. Crafty baa and Elleray worth visits for food and drink.

David “5 stars PLUS.”
Warm and welcoming as we entered. Lovely to be able to just relax. Not a lot to say that hasn't been said in previous reviews, except we could not find ANY fault. Thank you so much. As "Arnie" said(ish) "We'll be back!"
- David, July 2023 -
Lyn “We walked in to the radio and lighting and a bottle of Prosecco.”
A lovely welcoming touch. The cottage is so cozy and well equipped in a perfect location, right in the middle of Windermere but off the main road. Buses, shops, bars and restaurants on the doorstep. We arrived Friday and didn’t use the car until the following Thursday, but enjoyed the lovely views from the top deck of the bus to visit many places. My only suggestion would be a second tea towel as one is not enough for seven days. Will definitely return. Thank you
- Lyn, July 2023 -
Wilfred “Very very pleased with cottage in general, but the problem of the fire alarm going off occasionally needs to be addressed.”
- Wilfred, July 2023 -

Spotlessly clean. A very comfortable bed. So quiet & convenient, 1 minute from the shops. An easy walk down to the Lake & buses every few minutes returning to Windermere. We will certainly book again.

Elizabeth “Our second visit since finding Thyme Cottage and again we were not disappointed.”
The interior is very comfortable and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Situated in the centre of Windermere, close to shops, restaurants & transport be it trains, buses, water cruises. Plenty of walks and activities within a short distance from the cottage. All in all a gem of a place.
- Elizabeth, April 2023Thank you for your kind comment, they are much appreciated. Property Owner

Elizabeth “So pleased we have found this property to stay in, very central to all the Lake District.”
Didn’t use the car once, so nice to enjoy the scenery from the open topped bus. The bottle of Prosecco was a very thoughtful touch. We’ve booked again, so that says it all.
- Elizabeth, September 2022 -
Roger “Excellent property for 2.”
Ideal location in Windermere close to bus & rail station and all amenities. Comes with a designated parking spot. Ideal will definitely use again
- Roger, August 2022 -
Andrew “Thyme cottage was very clean, very quiet even though it was within easy reach of the high street.”
The cottage was very well stocked with glasses, cups, plates etc. However the bathroom was not suitable for anyone who has mobility issues as the bath was too high for my wife or myself to use it properly, also the doors in the bedroom we were unable to open and as our stay included the hottest day sleeping was difficult. Due to covid the games and books provided we were unable to use but a brilliant idea in case the weather is not too good. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone
- Andrew, July 2022 -
Jan “This was a very comfortable apartment with everything provided for a self catering holiday.”
Located centrally in Windermere it was handy for local shops, restaurants and supermarket all within easy walking distance. We enjoyed our stay here.
- Jan, July 2022 -
Mandi “We loved Thyme Cottage!”
! Perfect location with pubs, restaurants, shops and local bus services 2 minutes from your door - we didn't use the car all week and did a lot of exploring. A 20 minute walk and you're in Bowness, it was nice to come back to the peace and quiet of the cottage. The accommodation is really comfortable and very clean. Would definitely recommend this holiday let.
- Mandi, June 2022 -
Roy “A really comfortable and lovely apartment.”
The location was just perfect for exploring the Lake District.
- Roy, May 2022Thank you for your comments. We are really pleased you liked Thyme Cottage. Property Owner

Sonia “Cottage was lovely clean and had every thing we needed great location.”
Might not be the best for people with mobility issues. For me bath was awkward to get in and out. Bed a little on the soft side and I had great difficulty getting out of the comfy lounge chairs. I did really enjoy the cottage though and good parking on site Thanks
- Sonia, March 2022Thank you for your feedback and am sorry that you had these difficulties. Property Owner
-
Nora “Lovely little cottage with everything you could want or need.”
Very warm, clean and comfortable a real home from home. This was the second time we’ve stayed there and will certainly go back again. Everything we needed was within walking distance and we were able to park the car up and use buses to get around
- Nora, March 2022Thank you for your comments. We are delighted that you enjoyed Thyme Cottage and Windermere. Property Owner

Paul “AMAZING LITTLE COTAGE WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED.”
..HOME FROM HOME AND SPOTLESSLY CLEAN..IN THE HEART OF ALL SHOPS BARS AND RESTERAUNTS YET TUCKED AWAY AND VERY PEACEFUL
- Paul, January 2022 -
Lesley “Excellent position- central yet quiet.”
Ideal if wish to use local transport. We used our bus passes the whole week for ease as traffic very heavy and car parking near to impossible! Advisable to book evening meals in local restaurants. Plenty of choice of eating places.
- Lesley, August 2021 -
Jean “Comfortable, well equiped with everything you would need.”
Excellent level of cleanliness. Superb base for exploring the lakes. Plenty of eating places so you have no reason to cook on an evening. Not very easy to find at first due to outdated directions.
- Jean, July 2021 -
Chris “- [ ] A lovely one bedroom flat with all the facilities you may need.”
However do be aware that it is a ground floor flat and the bedroom has double doors and no windows. The doors face onto a communal area where I was kept awake by neighbours sat out chatting on phones. To the front the porch is shared with a lovely neighbour who can be pretty chatty. The flat is perfectly placed for Windermere and surrounding shops and having a parking space outside your door is fantastic.
- Chris, July 2021 -
Yvonne “Fantastic little cottage ,great Location , no worry about parking it has its own parking bay.”
Bus stop is just a few yards away with frequent buses to Bowness . Ambleside and Grassmere if you wish to go further afield the main bus stops are up in the railway Station which is just a 10 minute uphill walk. The cottage is well equipped with plenty of crockery and utensils it also has a dishwasher and it has everything like Hairdryer, Iron and ironing board there wasn’t anything missing the owners have definitely equipped this cottage well. I can highly recommend this cottage it is spotlessly clean thank you to the cleaning staff who keep this cottage in perfect order we will certainly return .
- Yvonne, June 2021 -
Carmel “Highly recommend our stay at Thyme Cottage excellent location everything we ...”

- Julie, June 2021 -
Jennifer “Absolutely lovely little cottage, great location and incredibly well equipped.”
Can’t wait to return.
- Jennifer, April 2021 -
Michael “We would have enjoyed our stay more if Sykes had agreed as well as the owner to change the dates as me and my husband had tested positive for Covid prior to the stay .”
We lost two days because of isolation and obviously didn’t feel
- Michael, October 2020 -
Ian “Really nice cottage in good location very comfortable and well equipped.”
- Ian, September 2020 -
Linda “Thyme Cottage was a lovely cottage really close to all amenities and a perfect place from which to go exploring and a great place to relax on returning.”
The description was very accurate and booking was easy. Would definitely book with Sykes again.
- Linda, September 2020 -
Philip “This was the very first time we have had a stay at home break in a self catering property and I must congratulate the owners on their attention to detail, we could not think of a single item we needed that had not been provided the only downside is we will expect the same standards every time should we book again and I would imagine this cottage will be hard to beat.”
The location is perfect and the cottage itself was very welcoming and comfortable we could have asked for nothing more, we will certainly book again should we visit the lakes in the future. We would have given maximum satisfaction but have given a lower rating due to having E Mailed yourselves on two occasions for information regarding the property facilities but received no reply to either and the fact that on one information leaflet it stated Wi Fi was available and on another it stated there was no Wi Fi, as it turned out Wi Fi was available, but to be sure of contact with family and friends my wife had already purchased a Telephone package which in the end was not required due to the confusion, also we would not have taken so much stuff with us. Such a trifling matter will certainly not prevent us booking again but I felt it should be shown in the survey and brought to your attention in order for you to rectify these points in the future. Please pass our gratitude to the owners and thank them for a wonderful stay in their lovely cottage. Phil & Heather West
- Philip, August 2020 -
Margaret “Cleanliness of cottage, new bathroom with excellent bath and shower.”
Everything we needed. Seats outside a nice bonus. However, TV had commentary for blind person on continuously and we couldn't turn it off. Apart from this we had a fab stay at Thyme cottage.
- Margaret, July 2020 -
Karen “The accommodation was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated.”
A perfect size for two people, with a well-equipped kitchen and very comfortable bed. Lots of lovely bars and cafes on the doorstep and only a short walk down to the Lake.
- Karen, December 2019 -
Kenneth “Off road parking.”
Closeness to shops and restaurants. Central for bus services and use of travel pass.
- Kenneth, September 2019 -
Robert “Great property right in town centre with parking”
- Robert, August 2019 -
P “We arrived to collect our keys after the office had closed.”
The keys had not been left in the box as they were supposed to have been we were very distressed and spent time having to ring to get someone to come to us with the keys. I know mistakes happen but feel very strongly that this should have been avoided by the staff in the office.
- P, June 2019 -
Clare “Thyme cottage is in a great location and even though right in the centre of Windermere it was nice and quiet location.”
The facilities were great and had enough utensils in the kitchen was modern and clean bathroom was also very modern my only moan was we were there for two weeks and the housekeeping did not change the bedding or vacuumed while we were there she did change the towels would recommend to friends and family
- Clare, May 2019 -
Sharon “Great location.”
Lovely cosy cottage. Well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
- Sharon, May 2019 -
Paul “The whole holiday was fantastic the accommodation was beyond anything we imaged weve already booked for next year”
- Paul, May 2019 -
Fiona “The flat was really lovely and had everything we needed.”
The bed is very comfy and could not have asked for a better location. Thanks for having us!
- Fiona, April 2019 -
Jan “Excellent location - middle of the village.”
Very well equipped cottage. Spotlessly clean. Lots of useful information in cottage. Supermarkets close by. Couldn't fault it (and, believe me, I'm not easily this pleased). Just one thing - could you order some better weather next time we come :-D
- Jan, October 2018 -
Kevin “Very easy to pick up & drop off keys where the staff were very friendly.”
Cottage was everything we expected, clean comfortable and easy to find. Great parking space which is important in the Lake District. Really enjoyed our week at Thyme Cottage.
- Kevin, August 2018 -
Margaret “Getting in and out of the shower, we had to be very careful as the bath has rather high sides, had to hold the handle!”
Also, would prefer a slimline washing machine to the dishwasher, don't have much washing up with only two, and eating out, apart from breakfast, and a sandwich.Otherwise it was a nice break. One other problem, the TV had very few channels that I could access, don't know why, or what we did wrong, but as the weather was so hot was spent time in the flat, in the evenings.
- Margaret, July 2018 -
Lisa “Location of cottage great for all activities, had a lovely holiday would definitely stay again”
- Lisa, June 2018 -
Paul “The cottage was in ideal central location to windermere, ideal to leave car and walk, plenty of restaurants to choose.”

- Paul, June 2018 -
Freda “We had a most enjoyable holiday at the cottage it was central to all amenities and it was very comfortable and quiet considering how close we were from the town.”
We would certainly book it again if we are going that way. Many thanks Mr&Mrs Britton
- Freda, June 2018 -
William “The situation of the cottage is perfect being right in the centre of Windermere.”
There are numerous pubs and restaurants to eat out in within a couple of minutes walk. There is also an excellent chippy just around the corner. We had many walks in the week we stayed, some local and others that we drove to. I would certainly recommend the cottage to anyone who wants to stay in the Windermere area
