Easter is a great time to visit the Lake District to get away from it all and it is sure to revitalise and uplift. The pastoral valleys are buzzing with new life and the mountains and lakes are fresh with adventure. Whether you’re looking for a last-minute Easter break in the Lakes or have long been planning a return visit, have a look at our hand-picked selection of Lake District Easter cottages available to book now and let the Easter hunt begin.

Spectacular Blooms

There is little that is as welcoming and as typically spring-like than the cheery faces of brilliantly yellow daffodils and their heady scent lifts the spirit instantly. As does the intoxicating smell of bluebells and wild garlic, which cover the Lake District woodland at this time of year and is a spectacle not to be missed. There are some of the finest manor houses and gardens in the Lake District too, and they open their gardens in spring with spectacular displays of blossom and beds filled with bright spring bulbs. The Lake District’s famous mountain and lake views are truly spectacular at this time of year also, with vibrant greens starting to show but not covering the vistas yet. Excitement fills the air, along with the lovely chatter of birdsong and lambs. With Easter comes another treat of the spring season – lighter evenings. This means strolls after dinner, perhaps to a local pub; drinks on the terrace as the sun sets and more daylight hours for long walks exploring the beautiful Lake District scenery.

Family Getaway

Easter in the Lake District is a sociable time and one of the most popular times of the year for families and friends to get together for a fun-filled family Easter break. You and your energetic little chicks will have plenty to do whilst on a cottage break over the school Easter holidays too as there is always so much going on. Choose from a popular Lake District attraction, like The World of Beatrix Potter, Lakeside Aquarium, Brockhole on Windermere, GoApe at Grizedale Forest, Haverthwaite Railway and one of the lake cruises for plenty of fun Easter events. Or enjoy quiet woodland adventures, skimming stones by a lake and creating your own adventures on a boat ride. Peter Rabbit and his friends like to cause lots of fun and mischief across the Lake District over Easter – from egg hunts to Easter crafts, there will be something to catch the imagination of all ages. There are a host of National Trust properties in the Lake District too who have particularly good Easter egg hunts that are ideal for getting the whole family out and enjoying the fresh air of spring.

A Taste of Spring

The Lake District has become the rural foodie capital of Northern England and a cottage break in the Lake District over Easter is all about feasting. Fresh and vibrant menus start to appear in gastro pubs, delis, and restaurants over the Easter holidays. This is the season of golf and Afternoon Teas; artisan coffees and freshly-baked pastries; delicious salads with the freshest of garden produce and refreshing spring cocktails.

One of the main benefits of a cottage holiday over Easter is the flexibility to set your own agenda and enjoy time in your home-from-home, baking and creating Easter bonnets and wonderful egg hunt baskets. There are few better holiday memories than an egg hunt in a lovely garden surrounded by beautiful countryside. We have plenty of luxury family-friendly cottages to choose from to whisk you away this Easter as well as gorgeous romantic boltholes where you can enjoy your escape to the country with a loved one.
