The property

Overview This delightful, spacious, 4 star Lake District holiday home is fantastic both as a place to relax and unwind with family & friends and as a base to explore all that The Lakes have to offer. Set in mature gardens, on the edge of Bowness, the property is well equipped and comfortably furnished to a high standard.

Perfect whatever the weather, with the choice of alfresco living on the terrace, afternoon tea in the conservatory, meals together in the dining room or cosy days in by the fire, enjoying a Netflix movie.

With many and varied local attractions close by there is something for all the family to enjoy; take a Lake Cruise or play a round of golf; enjoy country walks, adventure playgrounds or water sports; visit castles or historic homes; enjoy cosy cafes, bars or award winning pubs and restaurants.

What would you choose? Brunton Lodge is ideal at any time of year and a place to which many guests choose to return. Accomodation in detail A traditional arched porch leads to the entrance hall with a useful cloak cupboard.

Both the living and dining rooms lead off the hallway, as do stairs to the three bedrooms.

The dual aspect living room is light and spacious, providing views over the large mature garden.

With comfortable sofas, open fire and TV it is the ideal place to relax.

The separate dining room is just the place to socialise over dinner, celebrate together or get out the board games. Adjacent to the dining room is the modern, well equipped kitchen with electric oven & hob, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and DAB radio.

This in turn leads to the conservatory which has french doors to the south facing terrace & garden, a perfect place to relax on summer days. At the rear of the property is a useful utility, with washing machine, tumble dryer & freezer, and a downstairs cloakroom with basin & WC. Upstairs there are three comfortable bedrooms; one king overlooking the garden, one double with en-suite shower room and one with full size bunks.

All have fitted wardrobes.

Step down into the modern, family bathroom which has a bath with shower over, wash basin, WC and heated towel radiator. The driveway is immediately outside the property and offers parking for 2 to 3 cars.

A garage to the rear of the garden offers space for an additional car, bikes or canoes. Location Situated in a quiet location, on the outskirts of Bowness, Brunton Lodge is well placed to keep all your party entertained with many of the highlights of the English Lake District within easy reach.

For exploring without your car it is just a stroll to the shores of Lake Windermere & Bowness village where you can visit the World of Beatrix Potter, browse the in the shops, play mini golf, watch a film at the cinema or enjoy the cafes, bars & restaurants.

From here you can also take a Lake Cruise to Lakeside or Ambleside or hop on the number 599 open top bus for a trip to Grasmere via Ambleside.

There are many more attractions just a short drive away including Windermere Jetty Museum (newly reopened), Lakeland Motor Museum, Haverthwaite Steam Railway, Lakes Aquarium, Blackwell – The Arts & Craft House, and the National Trust properties Sizergh Castle and Fell Foot.

Travel a little further afield to enjoy the wider Lake District.

With the scenic A591 leading north from nearby Windermere village to the popular Lake District towns & villages of Troutbeck, Ambleside, Rydal Water, Grasmere, and on to Keswick and Winlatter Forest or branch off through the dramatic Kirkstone Pass to Ulswater.

Alternatively take the car ferry across to the Lake to Beatrix Potter Country and the picture post card village of Hawkshead.

For the more energetic there are many outdoor activities to choose from; golfing at nearby Windermere Golf Club, beautiful walks in the surrounding countryside, cycling & mountain biking and various water sports including paddle boarding, canoeing & water skiing.

There are numerous places for boat hire but with a public launching area a few minutes away at Ferry Nab you can even bring your own boat. Bowness boasts many excellent bars, bistros and restaurants and there are several acclaimed gastro pubs within easy reach, such as The Wild Boar, The Brown Horse and the Michelin starred Punch Bowl Inn. Windermere Train Station 1.5 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, cinema, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is three miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There is also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake.
