“A lovely clean beautifully presented cottage in a fabulous location.”

Close to town and with plenty of hikes on the doorstep. It was quiet and comfortable with all the facilities that we needed. I would highly recommend.

Thank you for your recommendation- hiking from the doorstep makes it impossible to resist the fells! Property Owner

The property

Recently renovated to the highest standard, Crow Cottage is an exceptional property which offers spacious, elegant and luxurious holiday accommodation and is tucked away in a peaceful corner of Keswick, yet only a two-minute walk from the town centre. Crow Cottage benefits from many of the original Victorian features and you will be able to relax in the elegant sitting room, socialise in the spacious Kitchen/dining room and retreat to one of the three welcoming and comfortable bedrooms, all with views to Skiddaw and Latrigg. The cottage is ideally placed to explore the great collection of shops, bars and restaurants that Keswick has to offer. For those seeking more adventurous challenges Skiddaw and the Derwent fells are all within easy reach, mountain biking fans will head to the nearby Whinlatter Forest and Derwentwater is within walking distance; ideal for wild swimming, canoeing or of course a romantic evening cruise! Accommodation in detail On entering the cottage, the front porch opens into the hallway which has the original tiled slate floor and leads to the staircase to the first floor. On the ground floor there are two stunning, generously proportioned reception rooms. The first has a fabulous large bay window allowing the light to flood into the welcoming sitting room which has comfortable sofas and armchairs in which to relax. They are arranged around the fireplace with wood burning fire and on cooler evenings, this adds to the atmosphere, making this room cosy whatever the time of year. The second lounge is ideal for children to play games, watch TV or indeed adults to use as a quiet room for relaxing and escaping with a book. The spacious kitchen/dining area is ideal for every occasion, from special family dinners to hearty breakfasts before a day on the fells. The kitchen is equipped to a very high standard with a dual fuel range cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Off the kitchen is a side entrance which is secure for storage of mountain bikes, canoes etc and is also ideal for storing all your boots and coats. This annex can be accessed from the exterior of the property. Upstairs on the first floor there are three beautiful bedrooms. The master bedroom, with lovely views, has a king size bed and en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower, basin and WC. This room also has a mezzanine area which is unsuitable for children to access, due to the steepness of the wooden stairs. The second bedroom can either be a super king or twin room (please specify when booking) and also enjoys lovely views. The final bedroom has a king size bed again with views. Finally, there is a family bathroom with bath and shower over, basin and WC. Crow Cottage has a garden to the front of the property. The wrought iron gates can be closed to secure the garden for children. The patio with outdoor furniture is perfect for alfresco dining. Private parking is available for two cars. The owners respectfully point out that parents are requested to remain vigilant and not leave young children unaccompanied in the master bedroom as the mezzanine area is unsuitable for children. The owners have installed a secure lock at the top of the door, enabling adults to secure the room from the hallway. Location Keswick is one of the Lake District’s most popular destinations. This friendly town hosts the very popular twice weekly market that has recently won the coveted “Best Outdoor Market” in the Great British Market Awards. The village also offers a fantastic array of shops offering everything from craft bakeries and local produce, antiques, crafts and much, much more. If you are looking for somewhere to eat and drink, a week just won’t be long enough to sample the great range of pubs, restaurants, bistros, cafes and wine bars! For a great evening out why not visit the 100 year old Alhambra offering first class cinema entertainment in traditional surroundings or enjoy an evening at “the most beautiful and friendly theatre in Britain”, the 400 seat Theatre By The Lake on the shores of Derwentwater. Enjoy a cruise on Derwentwater, walk onto the fells; Cat Bells, Skiddaw, Coledale Horeshoe and Blencathra are all nearby, head underground at Honister Slate Mines, enjoy mountain biking in Whinlatter Forest. For day trips throughout the Lake District, Ullswater is a short drive away offering lake cruises, great walking and the beautiful Aira Force Waterfall, Buttermere and Crummock Water offer sublime scenery. Ashness Bridge and Surprise View situated above the Borrowdale Valley should not be missed and perhaps even a cup of tea and homemade cake in the unspoilt village of Watendlath.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.
