Location

Ullswater is a serpentine 9-mile body of water and often called ‘England’s most beautiful lake’. Lying in the northern Lake District, the surrounding villages that sit inside this gentle u-shaped valley hold a special charm. The lake once inspired one of the most famous of English poems, William Wordsworth’s ‘I wandered lonely as a cloud’, or sometimes called ‘Daffodils’.

The gentle, rural charm in its north meets the glorious peace and quiet of the southern mountains.

Ullswater lies between the upmarket towns of Keswick and Penrith. The towns offer a range of supermarkets, markets, and dog friendly eateries. In fact, Keswick has several times picked up the Kennel Club’s ‘most dog friendly town in the UK’ award. Podgy Paws Pet Shop in Keswick is perfect if you need to pick up quality dog supplies.

For mountain and lake walking, biking terrain and water activities, the three villages around Ullswater. Glenridding in the south, Pooley Bridge in the north and Howtown in-between – offer plenty of choice for holiday activities.
